I did not use Dr. Huacauz but I did go to www.obesitygoodbye.com  Dr. Verboonen himself is very well spoken and knowledgeable of his profession.   I had the problem with seroma at the port site.  A towel and a heating pad helps the site heal.  There are several Mexico patients on the Lapband forum.  We can understand how so many people are prejudice to wls because of lack of knowledge, but how many people are prejudice to Mexico for the same reason. I was apprehensive about having surgery but after I got there I was just reminded of all the stupid and unnecessary stuff that we have to pay for in the states.  The office there  was self-sufficient with (x-rays, blood test, ekg monitor, etc).  Here in the states we would have to drive all over town for weeks to get all these tests down just so everyone can make money. There is a nurse on the OH site that had her surgery done in Mexico and she is very knowledgeable in this field.  I am going to past a copy of her post to someone with the same question.  All of us may want to look at some of her old posts because they contain some good information.  Her username is http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/sandyr/. A hematoma is simply a bruise. A bruise happens from trauma, even if you are not aware that you might have bumped or irritated the area.  However, I don't like to hear that the area is red and hot to the touch. these ARE signs of a possible infection. Please see him again if it continues to get worse, or is not a lot better by about Thursday. You were right to see him right away, but don't hesitate to see him again if not better soon. Did he mention a possible seroma? This could also be the cause of the  pain - but they are not hot and red. This is a small collection of clear-ish fluid that can accumulate around the port incision in the days and weeks after surgery. I'd think about that if the port incision is draining at all, or not completely healed by now.  Both hematoma and seromas almost always re-absorb fine. The pain meds will help, as well as a warm heating pad for 30 min 3-4 times a day. This will increase blood circulation to the area, which speeds healing. Good luck with this -   Sandy R at goal x almost 4 yrs Kuri patient educator

Thank you Coolbreeze,
The seroma looks and feels a lot better today. I have been hanging out with the warm heating pad and allowing the area to drain.

I will check out the posts of Nurse Sandy. Information is a powerful tool!
