10 days post op-anyone out there?

Hi,
I am feeling kind of alone out here in Mexican lapband land. For some weird reason I feel funny about posting my "stuff" on the regular forum. I am very guarded about revealing that I went to Mexico to have my WLS.

Did anyone out there get a seroma at their large incision site? How long before it stopped draining? I feel like I have an alien living in my gut. Was it difficult taking the stitches out? How long did you wait?

Other then the seroma I feel great and am looking forward to a long and happy relationship with my lapband.

I would love to talk to anyone who went to Dr. Huacuz for their surgery. Kimberly

Hi, I went to Dr. Huacuz and did not have a problem with a seroma but did receive a lot of literature about it and how to take care of it. Have you called Dr. Huacuz? You should have his cell number.

I too got the info and am following it. I was just curious as to anyone else's experience. I tried to call the Dr. on Sat. and got a rapid busy signal. The clinic numbers were Testimonial lines only. I think I will try right now. Thank you for your reply.

It is nice to meet another patient of the Dr. When did you get banded? How are your surgical sites looking? When did you go for your first fill?

Happy Travels, Kimberly

Talked to the Dr. He is sending me more meds. He also told me what to do in regards to keeping it manipulated and headed towards healing.
Everything else is great. Kimberly

Kimberly, I understand why you'd feel a bit cautious about posting on the regular forum. There are some highly opinionated members on there. However, I post there all the time. Only once has someone pressed their negative opinion on me about going to Mexico. . . I put her in her place, and kept posting without further adieu. Americans are heading south more and more. They are just keeping it secret for this very reason. But we all know someone who's gone south (Mexico). In fact, just recently FOUR ladies who work at Kaiser (who's insurance covers the surgeries) went south all together. Mexico has been doing the surgeries longer than US doctors because of FDA regulations. They are more skilled and have more experience with complication and what to expect of the surgeries. I was in great hands.... and I will go back in a HEARTBEAT. Smiles, Jen

I live in Charlotte NC and it really seems to be a very active plastic surgery , WLS area. A few of the other Realtors in my office flew off to Mexico for WLS and it has started a trend . None of us are quiet about it and want to let anyone that wants to know that you can go to Mexico and spend 13k and save your life. I think it speaks volumes about our health care system in this country where they will pay thousand of dollars a month to keep me on meds for life ( and support the big drug companies) rather tehn pay for an operation that will end my need for all of thoose meds and give me back my life

Hi Kimberly, Sounds like you are doing better. Good news. I was banded on Oct. 11, 2007 and my surgical sites are great. Absolutely no problem. I have actually had 2 fills. I did not understand exactly how I should feel and probably could have only had one. But, all is good now.  If you need the doctors cell phone let me know.

Thanks for the offer of his cell number. What happened was that I was given the wrong number in an e-mail from the office. I used the refrigerator magnets cell number and BINGO I got the Dr. after two rings. He was great. Thanks for checking up on me.
By the way how do you go about getting your fills? Do you go to Mexico?

Yes, he is wonderful. I do get my fills done by Dr. Huacuz. I live close enough (~2 hours away) that I drive down and have them done. Let me know if you need to go down and I can let you know where to park etc.
