Just wanted you all to know if you are considering any type of surgery in Mexico I would not hesitate.  I am currently in Mexico for my 3rd surgery.  I had lapband in 2005 , had my bl/ba in april of this year, and just had my tummy tuck on Oct. 1. This experience here has been wonderful.  I have used the group of Doctors under ready4achange.com  they have been wonderul.  Dr. Cardenas (PS), Dr. Heriberto (anes.) and Dr. Zapata (WLS) have all been nicer than anyone I have ever experienced in the medical field.  I have felt so wonderful since having my surgery I am close to goal and with my last round of plastics in Feb 08 will reach it. I want to thank Judy, Janet and alma who are the patient coordinators for all the support they give.  They have never been more than a phone call or email away.  I remember my first night home from lapband I called the doc. at 2am cause I was in severe pain.  He advised me what the problem was and how to solve it and if it did not work to call him back at any time.  I have never had doctors be there for so much support.  I have all the cell numbers and they are all only a phone call away! Special thanks for Dr. Cardenas and Dr. Heriberto for my new body and for the best anestesia guy who kept me pain free!!  (and when I did have a little pain came in immediately to fix it) So to all of you considering Mexico from my experience I would come here for any elective surgery I will have from now on....with no concerns!! Take care to you all and good luck on your journey Jan

I had a LBL in Mexico in August and I have had some problems.  My drains fell out prematurely and the drainage forced through the incision line leaving an open wound.  I am almost 12 weeks out and still have an open would which is being treated at home.  I cannot say that the surgeon in Mexico was to blame but I also cannot say that he was not too aggresive in the amount of skin he removed.  What I can say is that many people have complications due to plastic surgery regardless of where the surgery is performed.  One of the doctors treating me at home said that I should have had the procedure done at home because when the drains failed...I would have someone to go too instead of the emergency room.  One of the nurses commented that the incision line would only open if it is weak to begin with.  I have to keep in mind that after WL our skin is very thin as it is. The doctor's statement  has some validity however I saved $9000.00 by going to Mexico.  I was well treated and the surgeon followed up with me regularly after my return home.  I never got an infection and I had very little pain.  The decision to have surgery out of country is a very personal one and whoever is making it needs to do their research.  Do I regret my decision???  Even though I am not yet healed....no way.  No regrets here.
