plastic surgery at CosMed
I would like to know too.
About a year ago I was planning on receiving plastic surgery (Body Lift) and am wondering how they are continuing in patient satisfaction.
Though their ad DISSUADE me, I have heard many good things through the grapevine (upon which I rely on more readily).
So what's the latest news?
Hello...
Below you will find a copy and paste of an exact post I made on another site related to plastic surgery. I just had surgery with Dr. Fuentes of COSMED on June 5 and I cannot tell you how pleased I am with my experience from there. I live in South Florida and I assure you, it was WELL worth the travel and money I spent to go there to take advantage of his services. Even adding in the extra expenses, I still saved money comparatively speaking to a local surgeon and I received TOP NOTCH care! There are a couple of things I would advise you to do if you decide to go SOTB for your plastics, feel free to send me a PM if you'd like more info. If you want to see a photo of how I looked (albeit with bandages) two days post op from a lower body lift and a breast lift with augmentation.. send me a friends request. There is a photo on there of my surgical area that is only available to my friends. That way it gives me a little more control over who sees the photos from here.
Here's the post I made on another site, if you'd like to know more about this site dedicated mostly to those who travel outside the US for plastics, let me know and i'll be happy to give it to you. I'm not sure if I am allowed to post the site address here on the board so just ask me in private and i'll be happy to share.

Post subject: I LOVE DR. FUENTES.. and it's not about the money!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Everybody...
I've not been real active on the board lately since my surgeries but i've been healing and there's a lot going on here as well. I want to tell you all though about how wonderful I feel Dr. Fuentes is.. what a compassionate doctor he is!!
After my surgery date of 6-5, I stayed in the SD area for two weeks and on my last visit to Dr. F (6-15) I had developed some painful breathing that was related to position. Being a nurse and knowing the risk factors for DVT's and pulmonary emboli, I panicked a bit. After all, I was scheduled to fly the next day!! Dr. Fuentes made sure he checked my chest x-ray (negative) and my O2 sats (100%) and he listened and did an exam for me, testing to see if I may have had a problem. Since everything was negative, he wrote me a prescription for subcutaneous Heparin for me to use while traveling purely as a prophylactic measure, erring on the side of caution. I felt confident enough to travel since he checked me out and I took the Heparin as he instructed and proceeded to head back to South Florida. I moved around on the plane to be sure and did very well with the travel.
After a few days of being back home, my breathing was still uncomfortable but then I actually developed a shortness of breath that hadn't been there prior. Now I started freaking a bit more! I decided to go have it checked out when it didn't resolve but I had emailed Dr. Fuentes to let him know the status of things and that I felt it best to be sure that I was ok. He wrote back almost immediately and suggested that was a good idea.
Well.. I went to the ER and had several tests. Chest x-ray (again negative.. hmmm), venous dopplers on my legs (negative for blood clots) and then had a CT of the chest which finally showed my reasoning for the breathing issues. I had pneumonia!!! UGH.. no wonder I was having problems with breathing. They wanted to admit me but did not want to do anything other than monitor me.. no IV antibiotics, no breathing treatments.. nothing other than what I was already doing at home (fluids, pain meds, antibiotics from Dr. Fuentes). So I decided that it wasn't worth the boatload of money for my insurance deductibles if they weren't going to do anything other than monitor. I had my hubby at home and he would surely monitor me better than they would and he's a paramedic so I felt safe with him and his judgement. I am smart enough that if I had gotten worse, I would have hauled my butt back to the ER as fast as my vehicle could roll.
The next day, I called my PCP and told her what was going on. She started me on a new antibiotic and an inhaler. Let me tell you.. that inhaler was amazing! I even went to the fire station with the hubby and did an albuterol breathing treatment which kick started things even more. I'm feeling so much better now!
So.. how does this relate to why I love Dr. Fuentes you ask?? After I sent him the email and he returned one to me, I spent my time recuperating and trying to be a good patient by not overexerting myself. I FORGOT to write Dr. F back and let him know the status of things and he got concerned and called me personally to check on me! I'm here to tell you, that would NOT have happened here in Florida! If a doc does what he's "supposed" to do and complications develop afterwards, they wash their hands of the situation and of you. Dr. Fuentes showed his compassion by checking up on me personally because he was worried about my safety. What a guy huh? Not only is he a skilled plastic surgeon, he is also a compassionate man that truly does care about his patients. I know that for my next round of plastics when the time comes.. I have NO doubt in my mind whatsoever the one person on the short list to do it.. DR. FUENTES! HE ROCKS!
Count yourself blessed if you are fortunate enough to choose this man to do your surgery.. he's definitely an idol in my eyes!
