Hi everyone, Ok, I've decided to let Dr. Rumbaut do my lap RNY. My only question is where will I get follow-up for an RNY upon my return home to Alabama? Please, anyone who has had this done SOTB---what did you do? Thank you

Cindy, I replied to your email. For all others reading this: Please, please. please plan for your aftercare BEFORE surgery! Band, RNY, whatever, have plans in place before you go SOTB! You would be suprised how many assume their family doc will take care of them and never discuss it first. Although most of our insurances don't pay for surgery, they do pay for blood work, psych counselling and nutritionists, so use those services. You wouldn't buy a car if you didn't know how to drive would you? I wish all of you the best of luck in this journey! Bonnie lap RNY 6/05 265/163/149

Talk with Cathy his US rep. She can send you a list of the closest docs that will do follow-up in your area for him. He has multiple contacts across the states. When are you going? I am scheduled for ban placement on the 19th. Donna

Hi Cindy: I talked to my Family Doctor prior to my trip to Mexico and she does all of my follow up care. She was so happy that I had the surgery and was more than happy to do my follow up! I go every three months and have blood work done to have everything checked. I had surgery in March of 2006 with Dr. Rumbaut and have called him several times since then. Any time my doctor would prescribe a medication for me for something, I always called Dr. R's Office first to make sure it was something I could take. If he didn't think it was a good idea, he would recommend something else and I would share that with my doctor here. Once you get your surgery report from Dr. Rumbaut on your last visit with him, make sure you make copies of it to give to your doctors here in the states so they know exactly what was done. It has been very helpful for me. Good luck! When are you having surgery? Traci Baylon
