Has anyone submitted any charges for fills, etc. done in Mexico to their flex benefits? Is this typically an approved reimbursement? Thanks

Couldn't claim it on my taxes much less on flex plan wasn't deemed medically necessary. If it was ins. Would have picked it up and I wouldn't have gone to mexico. I would have also missed the best time of my life south of the border!

Thank You for your response. It doesn't matter either way if it is covered with FLEX, as I am having it done.

Although my insurance didn't cover it, it was medically necessary and my tax advisor said I could deduct all my expenses, so I did. I made darn sure it was documented 8 ways from Sunday in my family doc's medical chart, too, just in case! The IRS will allow you to deduct the cost of a pool and hot tub if you can get a doc to write a letter that it's medically necessary for rehab from an injury or surgery, etc. Just because insurance doen't cover something does not make it not necessary. All it means is your employer purchased an insurance policy that excludes something. Our insurance policies will not cover anything weight loss related, even nutrition counselling. My nutritionist visits only got covered because I have diabetes, not because I was fat. Remember to use your HCSA for vitamins, etc because OTC stuff is included, save your receipts.
