When you are having surgery in Mexico, what do you do about getting a note or letter from doctor to ask for time off at work?

Sorry, can't help. Wasn't an issue for me. However, I do know that my surgeon's office was very helpful, and one have provided one if I had asked. -Pam

I had my PCP fill out the federal FMLA forms for me. It does not have to be your surgeon who does them, but a doc involved with your care. I did not want my employer to know what I was having done, so it was all listed generically as abdominal surgery. Your work does not need all the details, just the fact that you are having surgery and what your restricitons are. Good luck! Bonnie

I just tried to go back to work and they said I had to be cleared by employee health etc to return. I just saw my PCP to check on the incisions etc. Since I have sick time on the books, my boss filled out FMLA papers and I took a few extra weeks off just to make sure all the gas I'm still passing doesn't offend any co-workers!
