trying to figure cost

I had RNY surgery in 2004 and now my sister is looking in to the lapband surgery. Her insurance will not cover the surgery so she has been checking in to "south of the border" Can anyone tell me how much they paid for the lapband procedure in Mexico? Thank you so much Kimberly

I think the average price is about $8500. Some a little more and some a little less. She should be sure that she sticks to one of the well-known surgeons and it should go well. My surgeon was Dr. De la Garza in Monterrey, Mexico and I think he is wonderful. She can call and get more info if she is interested. I haven't been on the SOB board in a while, but I had RNY with Dr. Joya back in March of 06 and he does the Lap Band for $8,000.00. But that fee includeds your airfaire, & hotel also. Check out his web site: www.drjoya.com I highly recomend him and his staff. It was a great experience for me.
