Question about driving

My DH and I are joining the losing side on October 3rd. We are staying 2 days post op in Mexicalli. It is about a four hour drive home. Will we, between the two of us, be able to drive for four hours two days post op? What does everyone think?

It is very hard to drive and hold a pillow on your stomach because the bounces hurt so much. So, only if you have air glide shocks. Or maybe if you get taped up really good? -Pam

Depending upon how you feel and the type of surgery you're having, I would guess. I have an hour and a half drive home from the airport and I drove myself. No problems. That was after the flight from Puerto Vallarta back home to Cleveland. I'm three weeks out post VSG and never had a driving problem. It sounds like you're getting banded. I would at least plan to drive 2 and then rest for a while. Good luck to you and your DH. Deanne

Thanks Sun and Deanne, I think we will probably be fine two days after banding. My DH is too retarded to take pain meds. He thinks he will get adicted...the goofball! So he can grunt in pain and drive while I relax in a Percocet induced coma. We could also stay in Mexico another day if need be or stop along the way.

I was banded on a Monday. Flew home on Wednesday and picked up my car from the airport and drove home. No problems. That Friday I drove to the Casino which is about an hour and half and stayed all day then drove home. Different folks react differently though so if you can take an extra day you might plan that just in case. Then see how you feel. Do remember to stop every hour and get out and walk for a few minutes. Best of luck, Cassandra
