My ears hurt every time I fly

I will be having surgery in PV with Dr. Joya Aug 2. I am not to big on flying because my ears hurt so badly for days. I have tried chewing gum, yarning, and ear plugs...it does not work for me. A friend of mind told me that she takes a couple of teaspoons of a decongestion med. If I do this I am wondering if this will interfere with any meds prior to and post surgery. I dread flying right after surgery, especially if I have to go through the pain in my ears. What works for you?

My advise would be to call Gerald and ask him if you can take the medison. I don't think it will interfear that badly, but you never know how it may react with the anastesia that you will be having later. Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers for speedy recovery.
