God gave me gifts and talents that I enjoy using to glorify Him, and bless people with.  5. I have a crazy dog that gives me unconditional love, and exercise company daily, multiple times a day. 6. I have friends who love me, who call and e-mail me regularly. 7. I have professional help in dealing with my physical and psychological problems, as well as prescriptions that help stablize me. 8. I have over four months of sobriety, and I am active in AA, and I cherish my sobriety because it is so closely linked to my sanity. 9. I am stable with my bipolar disorder, and my meds are helping me with that one day at a time. 10. My diet is almost under control.  I confess an addiction to sugar cookies that I bake myself, but other than that it is stable. 11. I am loving my time sewing things for Izzy, and gifts for others. 12. I had a wonderful Mothers Day with my son taking me to a Phillies game, and my other two calling me with greetings.

05/19 REFLECTION FOR THE DAY
"When I was driven to my knees by alcohol, I was made ready to ask for the gift of faith," wrote AA co-founder Bill W.  "And all was changed.  Never again, my pains and problems notwithstanding, would I experience my former desolation.  I saw universe to be lighted by God's love; I was alone no more."  AM I CONVINCED THAT MY NEW LIFE IS REAL AND THAT IT WILL LAST SO LONG AS I CONTINUE DOING WHAT THE PROGRAM AND TWELVE STEPS SUGGEST THAT I DO?

TODAY I PRAY
May God be the ever-present third party in my relationships with others, whether they are casual or involve a deep emotional commitment.  May I be aware that if there is real friendship or love between human beings, God's spirit is always present.  May I feel His spirit in all my human relationships.

TODAY I WILL REMEMBER
God is the Divine Third.

It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end.  ~Ursula K. LeGuin

Congrats!

I love / hate my alcohol. I can't imagine kicking the habit.

Ramon,
I truly empathize.  I have been on the relapse ride from December 2007, and started outpatient alcohol treatment in October 2008, and was doing that till September.  I went back in to outpatient treatment in November when I began to relapse after five months sober.  Then, in January, I crashed and burned after being prescribed Vicodin and abusing it.  First was the psych unit, then the inpatient rehab.  Have you ever done inpatient treatment?  I believe that was a turning point for me.  It might be worth considering.

I hope you find release from the obsession to drink soon.  I have been free from it since rehab.  I surrendered while in there.

Hugs,
Trish

Topic: Attitude of Gratitude
Like Dawg/Ramon, I am developing an attitude of gratitude.  When I focus on my blessings, my stress level is down, and my sobriety takes its rightful place at the top of my priority list.

Today, I am grateful for:

1. my health, I can walk, and I can talk.  I have full use of my limbs.
2. my sobriety.  I have over four months of sobriety.
3. my mental health today.  Today is a good day.
4. my apartment, I love my little apartment.
5. my dog, his company brings joy to my life.
6. my kids and grandkids, whose love I do not deserve and I find great joy in all of them.

Topic: Four Months Sober Today
I am very grateful to share that today, May 15, I have four months sober in AA.  I attribute this success to God, and AA.  I know that the obsession to drink was lifted in rehab in January, and I am not at all tempted by alcohol.  I am so grateful for all that is happening in my life.
