Topic: RE: Question
Well I'm no expert by any means but I do know that the body releases hormones during the losing phase of weight loss and especially with the bypass surgery. However I thought that was only during the losing phase and not so much after that. I do know that med dosages have to be adjusted and sometimes changed to another drug with the malabsorbtive surgeries like bypass. I'd say it would be best for your wife to try to find a doctor that is familiar with bypass surgery and malabsorbtion to treat her for the temper issue so that they can adjust her meds appropriatley. There are alot of changes both physical and psychologically in the first year or so of surgery but things should be settling down by now I would think.  It's great that you are trying to understand and help her thru this so just hang in there awhile and maybe even try some counseling for both of you to learn how to work thru these bumpy times. Good luck to you both!

Topic: Question
I have asked this question in a few other forums but had no replies.  Okay where do i start?  in 2009 my wife found out that she was having the gastric byepass.  she say the doctor ib may of 09 and was having surgery late august of the same year.  a friend that we have had the surgery before her(few years before)  and told us both to expect Bad tempers and mood changes.  Before surgery we had the odd tiff(and most marriages have tiffs)   But after surgery it seemed like    onec a week or every other week it was a huge argument.   and now it could be daily or every 2 or 3 days.   and Its tiny small things that sets my wife off and it turns explosive.   where she will get up and leave or go to another room.  we are both upset because it never happend before surgery.  she is on anti depressents and I hope that one day it turns around.   I feel like I'm always walking on eggshells not to set her off.    I hope someone out there can help us.

Thanks

Topic: RE: Anorexia/Bulimia after WLS
I think I've fought that battle, although I've never been diagnosed.  My weight went down to 104 lbs from 320.  Then I gained back to 130 lbs and seem to want to purge my meal, even if it wants to stay down (we still have issues, 8 years out).  Mind thing I guess.  I don't want to gain anymore weight, actually I want to lose 10 lbs. so I can fit back into my size 4 pants and not have to give them away.  I'm only one size higher but it seems like many.  I really remember the 26W pants and 3xl shirts and don't ever want to go there again.  If you think you're having an issue, try finding a support group in your area for it and check out a meeting.  I've been through most of the transfer addictions that come along with WLS and I can truly tell you it sucks!  Also, see your doc to make sure there is nothing surgically wrong.  Kathy

Topic: RE: NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO JUDGE YOU FOR BEING OVERWEIGHT INCLUDING YOURSELF!
My lymphedema specialist confirmed that either I have too few lymph nodes in my body, or my lymph nodes were most likely damaged during my panni removal surgery. Even my surgeon warned me that my lymphedema could get worse after surgery, and she was right.

There most certainly are medical reasons why people gain weight and that is the case with me. Plus, I really don't want to lose too much weight. I want to be a bit pudgy. I have always been rebellious of people telling me what to do, and I am not going to do what society wants. (all thin people)

If I can't fit into a chair in a movie theater, does that mean I should lose weight? Probably, but the theater should also take into consideration to widen their seats to accommodate ALL people, or have armless chairs. Why should only the obese be the ones to make changes?

If I have to lose weight, then society should also make changes so ALL people can be comfortable.

Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? I say, what difference does it make--I paid for a full glass,so either way I am getting jipped!!!

I don't know that lymphedema is a common problem for people who are at thier ideal weight. It's important to be honest with yourself and realize that weight loss will drastically improve your medical issues. At least that is true for me.

Topic: RE: Risperidone (Risperdal)
for sleep... i've tried ambien, lunesta, temazepam, trazadone...

the best of those (for me) was temazepam.

On ambien, I'd do things and have no memory of it in the morning.  (including eating).

Trazadone didn't work for me.

Lunesta left a horrible taste in my mouth that wouldn't go away.

You mentioned getting new meds... i'd recommend making only one change at a time so that i you have side effects, you'll know which one is the most likely culprit.
