Sarah,

I have to tell you, I had Rny surgery in 2006. I am not bulemic, but I do binge eat. Yes, even with surgery you can still binge! Get the mental things and your eating disorder taken care of first, before going through with the surgery. I wish someone had told me that before I had my surgery. Then maybe it would have been more successful.

I initially lost weight, but after two years the eating disorder reared its head again and I've been struggling ever since. They talk about transfer addictions, but mine didn't transfer it transformed into grazing. I eat all the time now. To me it's the same as binging only I get the high more often. I hate hate hate it!

I hate to be blunt, but I know if I could do it over again, I'd do it sooo differently. I would have made sure I was in good health mentally, and emotionally, as well as physically. Honey, take care of that and everything else will come in its own time.

I wish I had OA closer to me as well. But since I don't, coming here and looking at the different forums and participating is helping some. Also I would suggest counseling, someone who specializes in eating disorders if you can find one. If you ever need to talk just message me. K.

Hugs,
Nettie

It must be difficult to be off your meds and hormonal!  August 20th will be here before you know it and you'll have a healthy baby to greet.  I hope that time flies for you.

Topic: new, pregnant and have bipolar
I am new here, 36 weeks pregnant and have bipolar.  I have been off all my meds except Ambein and Prozac for 3 months before I got pregnant.  I can't wait until the night of Aug 20.-----c-section date.  I will go back on my meds that night.  My family can't wait until I can go back on them.  I have bipolar 2 and right now I feel like I will never be normal.  I usually go on the pregnancy forum but I thought I would visit here for some friendship and advice.  Thanks for being here and God bless, Penni

Hello there!  This is my first time here as well.  I had gastric bypass back in 2004 and now I am having my fourth child.  I am doing o.k. except I am having to do it without my meds.  I also have bipolar and my c-section is Aug. 20.  The night if my surgery I will be going back on my meds!  I am getting my tubes tied and am excited about not ever having to go off my meds again.  I am certainly here for you if you want me to be, we all can use some support.  Good luck to you and God bless, Penni

Melissa:

While I am much older then you (I have children older then you) I have had a number of complications combined with being bipolar and having PTSD. I have had 4 surgeries in the past 2 years and it is emotionally draining.

Hang in there - people on this forum are very supportive I have found.
