If a surgeon requires you to stop smoking it's usually something like 2 months before the surgery happens. Some surgeons don't require you to quit though. Craigerzz

Hello Sandy, My surgeon said at least 4 weeks smoke-free before surgery but advised me that I could use some type of stop smoking aid and I've chose and the patch and quit on 2-3-05....it really hasn't been that bad!! Good Luck! Jen

My Doctor will not do the surgery if you are smoking, they recommended that you quit before even seeing the doctor for your first consult. I have quit as of Jan. 25 and have not had a smoke, I think about it but have not lit up one. because I know if I do my surgery is out the window. I used the patch and it worked for me, but it also takes willpower. Just keep telling yourself its worth it and you will succeed. Barb
