Anyone here bi-polar and had surgery ?  Was wondering if things got worse or better for ya. I am waiting on insurance to ok me and then I get a surgery date. I am bi-polar with a history of depression and kinda worried.

did they say you passed the psych exam?  often they will decline you because of bipolar.  i was dx'd post surgery, though i am sure i was already bipolar before it.  so i cant say for sure.  but, the surgery sent me into a manic episode of MANIC proportions!  it was horrendous.  just make sure your dr is on your speed dial and you know your symptoms.

why would they decline if you are bi-polar?
I hope I'm not getting the run around.....
Maybe different in Canada?

My bff is clinically diagnosed bipolar and had no problem getting wls.  I will say she feels much better about herself but does not take her meds how she is supposed to so I can't comment on how she is pre/post op.

I'm bipolar. Surgery hasn't changed anything. I'm still just f*cked up as ever. ;)

I have bi-polar, anxiety and depression. My surgery will be a year next month in November. I feel so much better, Im not on as many meds as I used to be or the dosage. So yes I do feel way better after surgery.

I am glad I found this before I posted the question myself... I am Bipolar II, OCD, and mildly Agoraphobic... its a concern of mine in my new journey towards WLS if I will be denied for surgery.
