I think I've fought that battle, although I've never been diagnosed.  My weight went down to 104 lbs from 320.  Then I gained back to 130 lbs and seem to want to purge my meal, even if it wants to stay down (we still have issues, 8 years out).  Mind thing I guess.  I don't want to gain anymore weight, actually I want to lose 10 lbs. so I can fit back into my size 4 pants and not have to give them away.  I'm only one size higher but it seems like many.  I really remember the 26W pants and 3xl shirts and don't ever want to go there again.  If you think you're having an issue, try finding a support group in your area for it and check out a meeting.  I've been through most of the transfer addictions that come along with WLS and I can truly tell you it sucks!  Also, see your doc to make sure there is nothing surgically wrong.  Kathy

I too am suffering with the same fears. I am 1 1/2 years out, have lost 105 lbs. Went from a size 22 to a 4. I recently put on 4 pounds and am freaking out! I'm so scared about becoming heavy again but its all I think about. My friends and family tell me I'm too skinny now but they don't understand the fear I have and how it controls me. The more I think about gaining weight the more hungry I get...So now I'm obsessed with not eating at all ,I know this isn't healthy. But the fear is so strong and controlling. Please don't feel like you are alone with this. I hope you stay strong and are able to overcome this and know that we are here for you. Good luck

you are not the only one.  I feel these intense flashes of fear that I am going to gain weight.  I eat something and start feeling the panic that it will make me fat, that I should do something to get rid of it, puke, exercise, not eat anything else.  I think these thoughts and feelings are normal.  I have been trying to calm myself down when this happens.  To not over-correct for the situation. To let myself naturally drift back to eating regularly and normally.  At least that is what I am trying to do, sometimes I just vomit up everything and stay messed up all the rest of the day.  I think binging/overeating and anorexia/bulimia are two sides of the same coin.  I think your weight is really low and you need to see a doctor immediately to prevent it from going lower.  I see that you wrote this post in December so I hope you went to your doctor/therapist.

I have researched this topic while working on  my Master's in Counseling. Bulimia and Anorexia do exist after WLS, although most drs don't call it that due to the DSM descriptions/criteria. There are printed case studies though.
I am now a PLPC (provisionally licensed professional counselor). I highly recommend that you seek therapy/counseling to address your fears and compulsions. This can absolutely be deadly. I understand because I am 8 yrs post-op and have facilitated a support group on and off for over 5 yrs. I have feared the weight gain as well. I know people who have dealt with this but refused to admit it was happening. I applaud you for acknowledging this and urge you to seek mental health-care. I am available for counseling session via SKYPE if you cannot find someone in your geographic area.
Please take care of yourselves!!!

Take care,
Tamara

Hello!
I found very interesting this post and I´d like to invite any of you to participate of a Brazilian TV Show, that we'll record in US, in English about this kind of experiences. It would be very interesting if we could get an interview with you too, Tamara.
I am a brazilian TV producer and I'm producing a TV show called "Caminhos da Reportagem" :
http://tvbrasil.ebc.com.br/caminhosdareportagem

Next month, we will discuss about Eating Disorders in the program, and we would like to have some information about it from another country's point of view, like in USA. We would like to know how media in USA deals with this subject, how the risks of WSL surgery are disclosed, and it would be very interesting if we could get an interview with someone like you all, who had those experiences you've described.
We have a reporter who is already in USA (he's in Miami, Florida) and we are looking for someone which could talk about that, which get interested in giving us some kind of testimony, some information about that for our journalistic TV show.
Actually, we were looking for someone who could help us in Miami, but no problem if it was in somewhere else.
Could you help us, maybe? Or perhaps, would you have any suggestion?
Thanks a lot anyway!
Yours sincerely,
