Smoking before Surgery

I',m schedualed to have surgery on Nov. 3, 2008 and I can't quit smoking. Anyone else smoke before their surgery?

I never smoked, so it was not an issue for me. Ask your surgeon for the patch, or Chantix, or something to help you quit. It is imperative that you be smoke free by the time you have your surgery.

PLEASE STOP NOW.. I did before my plastics and ended up in ICU, after flatlining twice, because my oxygen levels dropped..

If you did stop smoking than why did you end up in ICU. How long did you quit smoking before you went into surgery?

I didn't stop smoking.. I messed up.. I stopped three days before surgery and I it almost cost me my life..
