GREAT weigh in....but OMG
I had a great first weigh in yesterday! I'm down 16 pounds since surgery on August 1st. Now I"m graduated to gerber's, but OMG am I in distress. Yesterday I ate ground chicken and thought I'd die. I think I ate too much, too fast. Took hours to relax. Then I made three scallops and that stayed down. I ate slowly and chewed thoroughly, and it worked out well.
Today I had scrambled eggs and chicken at one of our favorite places. It was so gross! I felt it was greasy, needed flavor and will not go down. I feel like soemthing is stuck! Not only that, but I KNOW I'm dumping. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here but this feels so damn gross! :( I'm wondering if breakfast needs to be a shake for me. In either case, I can't even look forward to meal time. I seem to keep getting sick.
Did anyone else have this problem? How did you handle it??

I am 2.5 years out and still have to remind myself to CHEW, CHEW & CHEW. I was the worlds fastest eater and it still comes back to "bite" me. If I slow down and chew very carefully I can get more food into my pouch & I don't feel bad.
I still supplement (almost daily) w/Muscle Milk, anywhere from 22-32 grams of protein depending on the size of the container. I like their flavor and after using Isopure Dutch Chocolate for so long, it's a nice switch.
Since you're such a "newbie", just go carefully and some of what you used to like, you may not like now.
Good luck,
Susan
I've always been a fast eater too. I wonder if I should just keep some Myoplex in the house just in case. The pre-mixed for diabetic shakes just don't have enough protein. I'm trying to eat slowly and carefully chew, but by the time I'm a few bites into my meal, its' cold. I guess I'll be staying home for some time! LOL. The EAS powder I have now has 23 g. protein, plus the milk has 10...gives me about 1/2 my days minimum. I have been thinking I might have to do one shake a day because this is really uncomfortable.
Thanks for your helpful suggestions!

Hi Marie..
for me.. chicken is about the hardest on my pouch.. I'm 3 years out.. and eating chicken will often effect it negatively. Just the density of it I guess will cause fullness right away.. and many times I will need to throw-up to get instant relief.
I lived the first few months on scrambled egg casserole dishes.. eggs.. cut up bacon.. cheese.. easy to digest and yummie. Also chili is great for protein and digests well.. even my doctor said Wendy's chili is great.. it's managed to cook all day and "break down" to allow easier digestion.
After 3 years out.. all the favorite fast foods that I loved before WLS just doesn't taste the same after WLS.. the fried foods I can taste the grease.. and the hamburgers are way to grizely.. and I hate that. So guess it's a blessing.. I just eat home more and save money.. not sure what foods you are allowed.. but when you get to the stage of Shrimp.. AWESOME.. buy a bag a shrimp ****tail and ****tail sauce.. that's a great meal. I even bought some of the little salad shrimp and added to my scrambled egg casserole dishes.. ummmmm!! Also a great appliance is a George Foreman.. throw on a burger.. or pork chop.. or steak.. and instant protein meal (or meals... cause I could make a steak last at least 2 if not 3 meals )
take care.. it sounds like your normal.. I never wanted to eat.. but had head hunger.. more times than not I was just too tired to chew .. but knew I had to get some protein in me. But this too will pass.. enjoy the honeymoon now while it lasts
Man Rhonda this is the worst "honeymoon" I've ever been on ! And i've been on a few! LOL..Today I had tuna when I could eat again. I found these Chicken of the Sea tuna cups (3oz. each) at the store. A little pricey, but portion is key for me. I put coctail sauce on it otherwise I'd be kneeling at the porcelain altar. I got 1/2 of it down before I felt like I'd eaten too much. It's not 'fishy' at all and tasted pretty good with the sauce. (I doubt I can stand mayo)...I'm sure my protein levels are low for right now, but I'll keep an eye on it. Marie
Hi Marie,
When I finally got to puree, I ate things like refried beans with cheddar cheese melted on top, or cream of wheat with splenda, just to name a few things. I did not do well with meats in the beginning. Cottage cheese was and still is a favorite.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish! I can have protein only for several more weeks. They were adamant about no veggies or starches. Cottage and ricotta are ok, but the chicken is a tough one. Turkey seems to be fine for me though. I made sauce last night with chicken sausage, turkey meatballs and ground turkey and was ok. Course, I had red peppers and onions in it and they didn't get completely pulverized...but really tiny bits should be ok....if not I'll find out today!! I cant' wait for veggies again...someday whwen I can eat more than a few tablespoons! LOL :)
