I am very nervous. I have baked three cakes since last week and am plotting my next cheesecake. I figure once I'm post-op I can't taste it anymore to see if its' right, so enjoy it now.  I need to find a new shrink as this one keeps bailing on my appointments. I'm worried about addiction transfer most of all. I'm an addict, so I'll be looking for the next score. I'm going to try and make it weight lifting and exercise again.  Wish me luck tomorrow!! I should be home by Saturday! Marie

Hi Marie, Last summer, I was eating a hot fudge sundae almost everyday, because I knew I wouldn't be able to eat them afterward.  Last supper syndrome.   As for addiction transfer, what self-soothing have you learned so far since you started recovery?  Keep utilizing it daily, hourly if you need to.  My problem is that I slack off in my self-soothing most of the time.  The key to recovery is the 12 steps and self-soothing.  In working the 12 steps, the 12th step says that we practice these principles in all our affairs.  Keep up your meeting attendance.  I do best when I attend a lot of meetings each week.   I am praying for you as you join us on the Losers' Bench.  God is in control, and He won't let you down. Hugs, Trish
Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Thank you Trish!  I appreciate the prayers more than you can imagine!!  I've been slacking a bit (therefore I bake) and need to find something good to replace it. I figure that between exercise and reading I should do much better.  I have a copy of the 12 steps and I plan to bring it with me to the hospital.  I have a wonderful support network so I know I'll be ok!!  The nerves are getting to me a bit though! Hugs, Marie

Good luck to you!  You are way ahead of the game as far as admitting to addiction problems.  I had the surgery, and THEN my alcohol and drug addictions came to the front burner.

You know that this is who you are, and always will be.  But that does not mean life has to be a downer.  It means you are informed, and in control.  And that's the best!
