This is very interesting.. and is in the NEWS now..  my boyfriend is on Chantix right now to help him stop smoking.. but may want to continue it longer since he's also just out of rehab for alcoholism. http://health.yahoo.com/news/177193;_ylt=AhJa_x_29eEzuybORn4 sOi1Lvs8F Thanks, Rhonda

This is interesting.  I don't smoke, but have heard good things about Chantix helping those who do.  I sent the article to my son who does both and has tried to quit smoking many times. I thank God I never started smoking.  I think drinking and binge eating are plenty to deal with.   Hugs, Trish

I have battled all three..  at one point in my life..  thank GOD currently I have all three under control.   I think it also said or I heard on the news this morning that it could help with gambling addiction too.  I think it may be a blessing.. not a cure, but like WLS a "tool". Good luck to your son. hugs, Rhonda

I believe I also heard about the gambling addiction piece too. When I was in eating disorder treatment, I was given a drug that is also used with addicts and alcoholics to help curb cravings.  It helped me with the urges to overeat, and eat from emotions.  There is a component to all addictions that stems from a certain part of the brain.   Have you read the book about Food Addictions? I can't remember the exact title right now.   When I think of it, I will let you know.   Hugs, Trish
