I'm trying to let this go... I can't.... I didn't take it last night and sat up almost all night-- finally crashed...made myself late for work. This sucks soooooooooo badly. I don't know what to tell anyone. I need something to help me sleep. I'm not hurting anymore-- -well not like that. My mom saw the poem I wrote around 4 in the morning and had a fit in my room (crying and stuff)-- she thought she was going to walk in and find me dead or something. I told her to calm down and sent her back to bed. Honestly I'm trying to figure out how to get some more-- right now I think I have about 3 weeks worth left. Its funny how you can come up with 101 lies to get a refill. I know I need help. But what can I do? ~shrugs~ I'm going to see if I can sleep again tonight--- if I can't.. I'll only take 1 teaspoon full this time.

Hi Marveta. Honey, you can't come off this stuff cold turkey like this without getting help. Please reach out to your health care professionals and get the help you need to get the stuff out of your system, and then to start working on both a sobriety program *and* to get the appropriate help--medication and therapy-wise--to treat what's ailing you under the addiction. What you can do to get help is to go to the places that offer real treatment. That's a scary step, but you are WORTH IT. Don't think for a moment that you are doomed to chronic pain or insomnia, though. You need the treatment and assistance to figure out how much of your behavior is trying to self medicate and how much is really an addiction problem. The key is to quit keeping secrets and to reach out for real help. Feel free to email me if you'd like to talk.

Marveta, Sweetie, make an appointment with your primary doc, and ask for help getting off the Vicodin. Tell him the truth. You are not the first patient who has had this problem. He may send you to detox, or he may prescribe something to help you sleep without a narcotic in it. From there, get a referral to a therapist or a rehab, depending on how long you have been on it and what your insurance allows. (Insurance companies are not that generous with inpatient days in rehabs.) There are also 12 step programs that are free, they just pass the basket, where you can get a lot of support from people who understand you. Hugs, Trish

I was in the same boat as you. I used it to calm my nerves - I've had many surgeries so it seems like I had a cupboard for of the drug. When I ran out I needed / wanted more. Even had my husband go to the dentist just to get some more. Well, I went to the PCP. I did not tell them that I was taking vicodin but I did tell her that I couldn't sleep. I toss and turn - can't fall alseep or stay asleep. She precribed me Lunestra - it works great. And it isn't habit forming. Please go see your PCP and try to get some help. Emily
