Age dysmorphia?
True, I have to have my eye operated on now because I wiped out riding bikes with my son. True I have a big scar on the back of my head from learning how to snow ski. True I have a scrape scar on my knmee where we had a pile up in a cave at night scuba diving in Malaysia. And on and on....
But I don't think I'm like one of those people who tries to be 18 again. I mean, look at people 70 yrs. old these days. They do everything; biking, dancing, hiking, running, etc. Used to be we were put out to pasture at 50, heck, 40...
I absolutely love my kid's music. Taking back Sunday, Arctic Monkeys, We are scientists.. It gets my heart pumping and my blood on fire. I was cheated growing up during disco!!!!
What a great excuse to go to these concerts; take the kids. Don't know what I'll do when they're old enough to go alone. Hide in the back LOL?!
This may seem like a leap in the thought process, but bear with me. I am so friggin glad I do not have to wear Lane Bryant disgusting orange and brown plaid because that's what the buyer chose and nothing else fits.
I don't dress like a teen, but I dress nicely, and with a little fun twist.
My kids are proud to be seen with me, hats and all.
Now that is a big statement. Absorb it. MY KIDS ARE PROUD TO BE SEEN WITH ME.
No more cowering because Mom is the fattest person in the room, doesn't get involved in things, jus****ches TV and eats. (Gilbert Grape is a painful movie)
I admit, going to downtown Austin this past week, I would give just about anything to be 25 years younger with this body. And to be able to drink and bonl. But I'm not. However, I CAN live my life from here on out to the fullest.
I have actually made some commitments to my community. I have to be accountable on their schedule, not mine. And I love it! I had forgotten what it was like to be truly intertwined with the people around me. I THOUGHT I was...made lots of money, was "successful", but this is a whole new ball game.
Thanks you all for putting up with my little mind excursions. It's as much of a surprise to me...but it feels oh so good!
Vicki
Heck Vicki I am 50 and I enjoy fashion and music and all kinds of things even more than ever! My daughter refuses to allow me to wear frumpy clothes. Not teen stuff but stylish. I am okay with it. I am happy. So go to the concert without the kids.
Yes, sometimes it would be fun to drop 25 yrs for a few days but.....LOL
Laurie
I love reading your mind excursions, please keep them coming..
My wardrobe is fairly nil due to things too big..etc.. I have robbed the teenagers closet a few times. I do have a few 'hip' things, however Jen is determined to be my personal shopper on the next shopping trip.
I LOVE IT WHEN MY KID SHOWS ME LOVE...!!
Have a great day!!
