Got a couple small projects done this weekend. I think most everyone has their power back. I imagine the grass will need knocked down next week after all the rain we've had.

Got the front and back cut yesterday before it started to rain. Side yard is still to wet, so hopefully sometime early this week I'll get to that.

It's grad party season, we will be at our third one this afternoon. I remember when these kids were just babies.

Good week to all

MLB All-Star game starting lineups announced

Best part of baseball all-star break is that it indicates baseball season is halfway over. Ready for football!

Looked back at last week and thought WTH? 180 something. Typo. Today legit.

Sweated like the proverbial woman of ill repute in a house of worship yesterday while I was doing yard work. Because of busting my ass end of week before last did not do much last weekend so really had lots to do yesterday. 4/5's done with the zero turn when mowing belt breaks. See getting my mother's mower today and finishing.

Have a Great Week, Gentlemen!!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

We got walloped with a pretty big storm Thursday. Our lights only flickered but about half the people in the area lost power and most of them still don't have it back. Lots and lots of trees down. All of my coworkers in the area lost power. Did not do much this weekend because most stuff in the area is closed and the places that are open are packed with people trying to eat or escape the heat. We've gotten hit with a fair number of storms since then and It's supposed to rain off and on through the week with a couple thunderstorms mixed in so imagine repairing it all is going to take a good little bit.

Good news is the drought is at least beat back a bit. The grass hasn't taken off yet, but once we get some sun I'm sure it's going to make up for lost time.

Don, I'm hoping you guys get some heat relief soon.

Still a little cooler here, and have not made it into the pool yet. With the current rains, the grass has been growin and I have been mowin', :-)

I've always liked fireworks, both commercial displays and home stuff, but just the small home stuff, none of the big boom booms. Now a day snap a pops for the local kiddies is just as fun and safer.

Happy 4th to all!

Portage 4th of July Festival & Parade

Last week: 197.6

Meme circulates in first responder circles with x-rays of damaged hands after a firework has exploded while being held. The caption is something to the effect of "today is the last day somebody will wake up with all ten fingers". If you do your own - be careful and keep the water hose handy. Worst fear for me living in country is a grass fire started by fireworks.

Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!! If you are working - I feel your pain.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I ain't gonna lie about it - I don't know. Till end of the year I plan on cruising work wise and work on some "honey do's" and get my shop building cleaned out and back in order. I have entertained the idea of working for a "First Call" service or funeral home and chauffeur dead people around. No embalming or funeral directing. Pick-up and delivery only! Second option is that Texas schools are desperately trying to put armed bodies on their campuses. Pros and cons to working as a campus cop. Plan to keep the Peace Officer license valid in case I do wind up going back to work in that field. Thirdly, and this one the wife nixed under all cir****tances as long as we are together, being a gigolo at a Dell Web / Robson Ranch 55+ retirement community!

I remember it being hot, humid and gritty digging ditches and pulling concrete in Houston in 1980! Of course I was a wee lad of 18 doing that crap!

Preemptively wishing all a Happy 4th of July.

Had a bad week at work. We had some critical people out so things ran very poorly. Made lots of extra hours but finished the week with an empty tank. Did one small honeydo project but was mostly a lump.

Weight's stable at about 162 today.

I don't feel bad for people in TX in the heat. I was in Austin for a week last yr when it was 106+ each day and it feels a lot better than 80 degrees in NYC which is humid, muggy, and gross.

Regarding retirement, you guys aren't retiring, you're just transitioning to new forms of work and engagement. Sitting home is boring and ages people fast so your challenge is finding new ways to stay in the game that hopefully are fun and rewarding.

Have a great week!
