Day later after road trip to ATL. Damn you Double Tree Inn chocolate chip cookies! GF's family August birthday gathering Saturday in Gainesville.
No direct impact from Harvey Round One. Round Two over the next couple of days may give us some rain but nothing major. Follow a FB TX law enforcement group and the pictures from along the coast - WOW! Speaking of rounds - my condolences to Mr. McGregor.
Have a Great Week, Dudes!
Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Happy Sunday! I'm headed in the right direction! Finally feeling better after the skin infection from a few weeks ago. What a raw deal (pun fully intended!).
Work is going well, I'm enjoying the new job (I'm 2 months in now). Headed to Hawaii on Thursday for a week and half. Looking forward to some swimming and tennis.
Have a great week everyone. If you're in the south, be safe.

So I thought I was eating mindfully. I thought wrong. 21 days on the road kicked my ass. I did a good job with vitamins and water. Not so much with exercise. Based on the schedule I am looking at, I have 48 weeks to go. I gotta figure out a better routine for this travel.
My heart goes out to all the folks in south east Texas. Between the devastation from #Harvey and now the flooding in Houston, its a mess. Stay safe.
Men and younger women tend to lose the weight the fastest. For young women, take the same woman (same weight) at 30 vs 50. At 30 she can move better and her heart is probably stronger. Also men (in general) have a larger muscle structure. The weight come off of us quicker. A sure way to loose more weight while you are dropping, is to buy new clothes! You think you are done losing, so you spend big bucks on new clothes...To look nice. WHAM!! You end up dropping another 10 pounds. So you may want to ask friends, family, coworkers for used clothing till you get near goal. My favorite pair of jeans came from my nephew the first year out. He didn't need them and they fit fine for me. Try thrift shops and Goodwill till you get near goal. One week I lost 10 pounds!! I was eating right and exercising hard (doctor's approval). Also know the signs of dehydration. Dehydration is the # 1 reason WLS people reenter the hospital. Just have the signs printed out somewhere so you can look at them and know what is going on...Brian
Joe I'd recommend a trainer at a local gym to get you started. I think hands on is much better in the beginning than online. Some things are still better the old fashioned way. Also I agree with other poster about starting slow. I didn't start out 6x a week. I started with biceps/triceps one day, legs the next, then back/chest third day. Then 1-2 days rest and start again BUT depending on your fitness it might be a good idea to only lift every other day ( and still alternating body parts), you can still use the bike, elliptical, or treadmill on non lifting days so you are still getting exercise. If you have any questions I'll do my best to help ?
Just a few things in general. Be sure to work slowly up to it. Many people go into the gym or start training and get frustrated with tearing so many muscles...Totally sore. You need to have some soreness to build up the muscle (you are literally tearing down the muscle to rebuild it stronger). Doing this over time is the way to go. Some soreness good...Total soreness all the time bad. Many total soreness people get frustrated and quit. The other thing you need to be aware is the pressure you are putting on your kidneys when adding too much protein. Especially if you have high uric acid. High uric acid and very high protein don't mix...Can cause damage to your kidneys. For serious weightlifter the high protein is fine. But for those with high uric acid (gout) you need to be careful. If you've had gout (or high uric acid) you may want to consider toning and strength training rather than big time body building (less protein). Brian
I think if this happens again you may be in need of medically required plastic surgery to prevent reinfection!! Get the insurance company to pay for it...Tummy tuck...
