So I'm less than a month out of surgery. I had a fairly fast recovery, my main issue is tiredness. I went back after a week and a half but find myself needing naps.

As others have mentioned, water after the meal causes digestion issues.

For me, I just use a pre-natal vitamin chewable (jamesons) and d3 drops so it's not that bad.

Hi, I'm also a newbie to this group. Just had RNY surgery on Feb 9th. So far (although I bored eating liquids) it is very structured and easy enough to follow. I'm down about 18lbs from my surgery date in 3wks.

It's a scary journey but places like here are very supportive.

You'll get there and you'll be astounded at the results. I know I was.

Hello all. New member here. 37 yrs., 6'0", 320 lbs. Married and father of 2. Carolinas Weight Management- Charlotte, NC.

I had my 1st VSG consult on 2/14/18. I will officially start my 6 month pre-op weight management program (to qualify for insurance) on 3/12. I had a fitness consult on 2/26 and have lost 4.5 lbs. since my consult.

Like most, I am very nervous about this journey. I feel I need to do this but am very afraid of failing. I'm not the first in my family to have WLS. Wife had a lap-band implanted in 2008. While she has lost over 100 lbs., it has not been an easy process for her between the band slipping and issues with scar tissue. This made me nervous about considering WLS and the reason I have put it off for so long. But despite her own problems, my wife has encouraged me to pursue VSG and is fully supportive of me. having never had a single surgery in my life, the idea of voluntarily surgery is terrifying, but the lifestyle changes are even scarier. That all being said, I do very well and tend to find success when I have a detailed plan and a strong support structure. So I hope that between my medical guidance from CWM, my family's emotional support, and the advice and support on here, that I will be successful in my journey.

I am excited to see what the next year(s) bring for me. I look forward to getting to know you all and will be leaning on you for support.

Thank you, that is good to know. My wife and I travel a lot and I was really wondering how long it would be before I felt well enough to handle my 5th wheel RV.

I had an amazing recovery. I had one or two very brief - as in a couple of seconds long - bouts of nausea the day after surgery. After that, nothing. I didn't even have any real soreness, although the incision sites were a little tender for a while. I did feel as weak as a baby kitten for a while, but once I got back to some more solid food and the ability to exercise, my strength came back rapidly.

Thank you again. Were you sore or sick during the 8 weeks after surgery?

It will get better with time. In the early months I traveled with extra drawers. And by traveled, I mean anywhere I went outside the house. Now, almost 18 months out, it is extremely rare. You just have to remember the downside to forcing one out with vigor.

What is the worst thing about after the surgery. What keeps you from going back to work? Why do you have to drink water 15 before your meal and not with your meal? Can you get all your vitamins in one liquid per day.

Thanks for all the help.

To answer some of your other questions...

i had longer off from work than some on recommendation of my surgeon, as my occupation requires quite a bit of lifting heavy objects. I took about eight weeks off before starting back. Since I am owner, sole employee, and grand high panjandrum, it wasn't a problem.

Water. I found through CAREFUL experimentation I could drink right up to before I eat. Drinking during or immediately after washes the food down into your intestine faster. Not only will you get hungry faster, you expose yourself to dumping, which is extremely unpleasant.

I take a Centrum vitamin once a day. I had a sleeve, so your requirements may be different. For the first three months I used chewable bariatric vitamins until I was cleared to start swallowing pills. This might be better answered by your bariatric team over strangers on the internet.

There isn't always, but it often arrives in liquid form disguised as a fart. Welcome to the group,
