Anybody had any experience w/ ED or lowered sex drive after surgery?
I'm not on any medications right now, that's one of the reasons I'm concerned. My PCP thinks it is just psychological, and he's prescribed me some Viagra, but I've been struggling to get approved for it thru my insurance. It's definitely a struggle right now. I'm thinking about just going to a urologist to get checked for low T.

One more thought...Just throwing it out there. Stored in your fat cells is small amounts of estrogen...Yes, estrogen!! It does get released. For men (who are steady Freddy) they can freak out. They feel like they are falling apart emotionally. When really it the release of the estrogen (through the liver) and it effects their systems. It will pass as your weightloss slows and you get to a more normal weight. Just a thought. Brian

I would add that when I started lifting more heavy weights, my sex drive increased. When I was at my heaviest, my testosterone was on the low side of normal. As I started weight lifting, my testosterone returned to more normal levels. When I was in full on losing mode, my emotions were all over the map.
Was your surgery done open or lap? I'm wondering if some blood vessel or nerve in there might have been damaged during the surgery ..

k. I would go ahead and talk to another lap WLS surgeon, if possible, or at least a lap gastroenterologist that is familiar with WLS and ask if it is possible your surgeon might have damaged a nerve or blood vessel during the procedure that is causing the issue.
