I can't even imagine the sacrifice that our armed forces make for us to keep our freedoms. Don't forget the sacrifices of their families as well. On this unofficial kickoff to summer, please take a moment to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we can freely say, think and do the things we do.
I was looking at my weight graph and was noticing my weight trending up the last few months. I know the reason, I've been eating too much especially at night. I've tried a number of different things to address the nighttime eating and have some success once in a while and not so much other times.
Over the past year or so, I've been doing quite a bit of reading about exercise, eating patterns, macro's and myths. One myth especially is whether breakfast is an important meal. On another note, when I was in North Carolina, my MIA recorded an episode of Dr. Oz (of all things), where he had a guy on who was promoting intermittent fasting. I decided to do a test.
1) I would limit my eating to a 8-12 hour time frame by skipping breakfast
2) I would work harder to eat more protein and fat and less carbs
3) I would eat snacks at night (if you cant beat them - join them approach)
At night, I'm mentally weaker than I am in the morning. Also, I'm too engaged in work and activity in the morning to really be hungry. My reading (note I didn't say research) has indicated it may be a myth that Bfast is as important it has been made out to be. That allows me to save calories for nighttime snacks (which may have an added benefit of fueling muscle at night perhaps??).
Its only been two weeks, so I'm not ready to call this a success. But there is good indication with my weight last week and this week that it may work for me. I'll give it a couple more weeks before making a final assessment.
Have a safe weekend everyone!!

Still struggling with losing much weight, but at least not gaining.....water, walking and everything seems to be going well just in a sloooowww pattern.
I, also, struggle with a little too much snacking at night. Although I am good about at least eating high protein snacks... i.e. nuts, protein smoothie, cheese etc.

Post vacation downward slip continues. Slowly. Not complaining.
Yesterday there was a car show/fish fry where I work as a fund raiser for the local Beautification Committee/Veterans Memorial project. Had 80 or so rides displayed. Personal favorite was the candy apple red '55 Thunderbird. $10 a plate I skipped the fish fry. Veterans Memorial gets formally dedicated tomorrow.
Let the "silly season" (summer) begin!
Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I love that the weather here has finally gotten over 60 degrees. It was 90 and 85 this weekend!!! Thank you JESUS!
I have the vitamins and water on track. I have been able to get more outdoor biking in since the weather has been cooperating and it seems I can't eat enough to stop the weight loss. It is actually hard to eat much more than I have been. I use my fitness pall and weigh everything. I am trying to get 2300 and I rarely get 2000. . Not enough time to eat more lol. It is still crazy to think I am having this when I could eat a 5lb cheesesteak before surgery. On a positive note I can't believe I were a 46 extra long suit as I was a 60 extra long.
Have a great week everyone.
Eric
Hey Guys! Well if you read my note from mid week, i was kind of panicked when I went from 182 up to 187. Today Sunday I am back down to 182. (good news) I am 7 months post op. I was on the elliptical today for 30 minutes, stair master 30 minutes, slow jog 3.miles, and hiked 3.5 miles. All of this exercise and activity is great but it does increase my appetite. I am thankful for all of the things I can do now that I have lost my weight. I can walk up 4 flights of stairs now, much more energy, I can hike, jog, ride a bike and much more. We are planning our first family hiking trip tomorrow. I am logging my food on My Fitness Pal and I have a FitBit surge to track the exercise. I have started training for my first half marathon in Mid October (first time in 20 years) . I continue to weigh every day and take my vitamins.

I have not lost any weight this week. I think I have either hit my goal or a plateau.
It has been a couple of weeks since I have lost anymore weight. Thanks for everyone here! Thanks for posting and keeping me motivated to continue. Have a Good Week!

@QAJohn I have mentioned before that I really struggle with night time eating. Keep us posted on how you do not eating breakfast. Recently I have been starting the day with a zero carb isopure 40 grams of protein, sometimes it take me until 2:30 or 3:00 to drink it. Also I usually have a pure protein bar 20 more grams of protein and 20 grams of carbs . Sometimes i don't eat any "real" food until 1:30 or 2 for lunch. It sounds like you have a plan to reduce night time eating. If I am really hungry before I go to bed I eat one more protein bar.
