Well that didn't go according to plan. I had a perfect storm this holiday; first, there was no talking my wife out of cooking standard thanksgiving sides, second, there was no talking my brother into a healthier thanksgiving option, third, there was no disciplin on my part.

What did I get out of this mess? Well, I suppose the food tasted good. Truth be told, I didn't really feel good this weekend.

The better question is "what am I going to do about it?". In a nutshell its back to basics.

CCPE = Calories (Control them), Carbs (Limit them and eat more fiber), Protien (Concentrate on) and Excersize (Add more cardio to my workouts). I'm pretty sure that is a recipe for success.

Lots of good football this weekend. Finally the Lions are looking like the team they were supposed to be, just too little too late. The Wolverines also looked like the team they were supposed to be. I hate Ohio State, but they looked pretty darn good. Michigan had a great year, and I'm very excited for the future.

On to the gym. I have three weeks to get this extra weight off and get ready for the Christmas season.

Take care all.

I've always thought that the losing part would be the easiest. The maintenence would be the most difficult part of the process. I typically don't worry about a week or two. At the weight I'm at now, I need to address it fairly aggresively, but I know it will come back off if I follow the process.

Use this week as a learning tool. Now that you know what a holiday can do, its not too early to start preparing for christmas/new years. For me it means eating at a calorie deficit as much as possible between now and then as well as tryng to direct the menu's as much as possible. I know that self discipline is a weakness, so I need to use planning as my tool to fight that.

I guess Thanksgiving was very, very good to me!  Lost 2.8 lbs, amazingly, after two feasts on Thursday and then repeated on Friday.  I really didn't eat that much, as I found the carb-loaded sides really didn't appeal this year.   Does anyone else find that to be so in the first year after surgery?

One of my downfalls in the past was always the fresh baked buns/rolls with warm butter and then dredged through the turkey gravy for added effect (and not just one or two, believe me).  They were way too gooey this year to me, and I knew after one bite that this would put me in huge pain if I continued.  So I ate some turkey, and just a bite or two of the traditional sides and let it go at that.

Of course, our amazing Iowa team beat Nebraska! and 12-0 for the first time in history.  I do remember when they were 11-0, ohhhhh I meant 0-11!  lol.  We Iowans are savoring it all and have high hopes, even if they do get blindsided by Michigan State in the Big Ten championship.

Great Job!! That first year is awesome. I found that lots of things changed that first year. Your tastes will change a bunch. Also, this is the time to start developing new habits.

Keep up the good work.

Hello Everyone Hope you guys had a good Thanksgiving! . My Thanksgiving went well. We were at a relatives house and I took a big bottle of Isopure (40 grams of protein) and just drank that with Proti Protein Drink and Water.  I really was not even tempted to eat the food. Not sure why it just did not have any appeal this year?  I am about 5 weeks post surgery RNY.  Since surgery I have lost about 36lbs.  Last week I weighed 286.4 and today I weight 281.8.  So it looks like I have lost 4.6 lbs this week.  Since I have not been working since Weds, I have had extra time to spend 30 minutes at a slow pace on the stationary bike and plus walking for 30 minutes.  I noticed all of the exercise really helped the weight loss. Once I go back to work I will not have time to get that much exercise in (1 hour a day).  I am working every day to record my food on My Fitness Pal to try to keep track of calories and protein grams. Everybody keep up the good work and have a good week!

Last week:  174.8

This week:  175.6

Just because the SF pecan pie was sugar free does not mean it was CALORIE FREE!

Well football season is over for me now for all intents and purposes.  Unless M-State gets a bowl bid, hopefully the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA so it is easy to get to, State's season ended on a loss to Ol' Miss.  Not even going to go into the Cowboys on Thanksgiving day.  Lost the game and quarterback.

Now one for the "y'all ain't going to believe this ****" category.  GF's house in Atlanta was listed on MLS on Wednesday.  By the time we sat down to eat Thanksgiving dinner her and her agent had been back and forth a few times regarding two showings one Thanksgiving eve and one that morning.  It SOLD for full asking price by NOON!  She is one happy camper!

Back to work in the morning.  Hopefully the rain will quit and it can dry out for awhile.

Have a Great Week!

i'm lucky enough to still be in the phase where its uncomfortable to eat.  Made Thanksgiving easy.  I had a couple ounces of turkey and went on my way.  I dont look forward to when I actually have to exercise some self control.  You guys are unreal; my heroes.

Loved the football weekend.  Enjoyed the Ohio St game (sorry, QaJohn, but Harbaugh's demeanor makes me do the unthinkable: root for Urban Meyer), enjoyed the FSU win ( is it even possible to root for the Gators?), enjoyed Miami closing out the season on an upnote (hopefully Butch Davis or Chip Kelly is on the way).  Now, we just need the Pats to figure out how to win a game with zero wide receivers.
