Hi folks.  I've enjoyed reading several of your post here and think I'd like to join in.  At least I can feel a little better perving around getting ideas.

I decided for sure and finally on 9/11/2015 that it was time to get serious about loosing weight and getting VSG surgery.  I'd made up my mind about a year earlier but hadn't made a move.  I weighed 354 and knew it was time.  I started researching and decided on a surgeon just south of Texas.  Got my EKG and stuff done that they required and they approved me.

I went ahead and started my pre-op liquid diet back in September to convince myself I could do it.  ended up loosing a little over 50 lbs. before surgery.  First goal accomplished!

In the mean time, my wife decided she'd like to go ahead and get it done also so we could better support each other, by knowing exactly what each other was going through. Had to make a change in surgeons so I could pay for both of us.

We decided on Dr. Fernando Garcia through Tijuana Bariatric.  I'm convinced it was a good decision.

We flew down last Sunday (11/22) and both has surgery Monday morning.  Flew back home Thanksgiving day.  So we begin!

Y'all please be patient with me while I figure out the widget things and stuff.  Not real good at this kind of stuff.

Welcome to the family. Do not underestimate the significance of your wife having surgery as well. My wife supports me with words, but when it comes to actiosn she falls very much short. She wants to support me, and I truely beleive that, but its VERY hard for her. It will be much easier for you and your wife to go through this process together.

Best of luck to you, and please let us know how your doing!!

Congrats on making the weight loss surgery decision.  It may work well if you are both eating the same food all of the time because then you can support each other. Congrats on losing 50lbs prior to surgery that is great! Welcome to the club!

Congrats to both of you and very welcome to our "club". It's the best thing you could ever do for yourself.

Congrats on the 50 lbs too prior to surgery. Well done! Keep up the good work and let us know how things progress.

Welcome!!  I have heard the WLS surgeon in Tijuana is the best in Mexico.  Ask away on the questions.  Remember that during the rapid weight loss, your body will be releasing estrogen from your fat cells...Yes estrogen.  This will cause your emotions to go flying.  You're wondering what's going on??  I'm falling apart?  After awhile you get back to normal.  Good luck on your journey.  Brian
