Food on the road.

So work life has changed again I am back on the road. So the question I have is food choices for all three meals? Even more so any good ideas for food from fast food joints?

For me:

Breakfast

Poached eggs, Ham (or candian bacon), or just bacon. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese of they have it. For crappy hotel breakfast, I stik with the crappy scrambled eggs sicne I cannot get the rubberized hard boiled eggs down

Lunch

Any protein I can get. Some fast food alternatives are Chipotle Bowl, Subway chopped salad (no dressing, use red wine vinegar), Jimmy John Unnwich. If worse comes to worse (like today for me), I grab a deli meat sandwich and eat the meat and cheese leaving the bread

Dinner

Depends on your expense account. For me, I look for a steakhouse to get a nice grilled steak (Probably Texas Roadhouse tonight for me). I always look for grilled steak or seafood first. I'll only get grilled chicken if I know its moist otherwise its no bueno.

Most restaurants have good choices. The toughest part is mental. You need to ask for the changes you need, and forget about cleaning your plate. Yo'll leave money on the table for sure. If you are at the same hotel for a couple of nights, you can always bring leftovers back. I typically cant do that, but its an option as well.

Good Luck

PS - I see you're from Whitemore Lake. I grew up in South Lyon. I spent a lot of time around Whitemore Lake growing up.

John gave you most of the tips. I also look for a Boston market and get a leg and a thigh and have that for a quick lunch. I like the places that have someone cooking real eggs at breakfast. I'll get two over easy. Chop them up and they go down easy. Steak, fish, and other seafood. It's tough eating out with a group and I just eat so little and take the leftovers back to the hotel and maybe eat a few more once later in the night as a nice snack. God luck out there

An Unwich is my favorite fast food meal. I just wish there were more Jimmy Johns around. I also like grabbing a bowl from places like Chiplote or Qdoba. Load it with double beans, no rice, meat of your choice, fajita veggies, and cheese, and you've got multiple meals.

I also like to grab the Protein Bistro Box from Starbucks. And on Sunday, I found myself out at lunchtime and found a nice adult Lunchable at Target. It had pepperoni, provolone, and dried cranberries.

Wendy's has a grilled chicken sandwich. No crappy coating, just chicken. Ditch the bun, and it's something like 27 grams of protein and 130 calories.

Chik-Fil-A has grilled chicken nuggets at like 140 calories, 23g protein and 3g of fat. No sauces, of course.
Arby's roast beef NO Bun, 143c, 15g protein, 10g fat. Not great, but a quick option if you're in a pinch.

Any grilled chicken with no sauce, nothing added.

Wendy's Chili with cheese...Good eats. For the first few years I would even have it for breakfast...Just a spoonful or two.
