week 6 not getting enuf protein, any thoughts ?

Its week 6 post op and im having trouble getting my protein in, im supposed to get around 100g a day in, should be easy but its not. after 4 weeks of nothing but super sweet protein drinks and the various broths its hard to stomach that stuff anymore. It takes around an hour to stomach 12oz of the shacks, bu****er goes down fine. the muchy solids phase allows for the tasty meat from a chicken and at week 6 i can do cooked veg, but i still have trouble getting everything in because im a construction work and busy all day with 1 break and a 30 min lunch. niether are enuf time to get what i need in,  especially because i sweat alot so hydration and electrolytes are also needed... any advise ?

I pack a few snacks in my lunch box. Greek yogurt, hardboiled eggs, some extra sharp cheddar cheese chunks. Chicken salad, tuna salad. I have a hard time with left over chicken so I eat more steak. I can eat leftover steaks for lunch as well. So this is what I do. I eat breakfast of eggs or if I'm really pinched for time I have a emergency protein shake. Then I try to drink water a half hour to 1 hour later.  Then I try to eat a snack like a yogurt or something about 2.5 hours later. Then some more water sips after the 30 min wait after eating.  Then lunch . Want 30 min and sip water. Then a afternoon snack. Then water then go home for dinner. Then water. Then a snack and water. Then bed. Repeat. Hope this helps.

Somebody is telling you a lot of Boloney about goals. At 6 weeks post op, you'd be lucky to get 60 to 80 grams every day, and you'll definitely have days you miss the goals.

I personally think the protein shakes are aweful and Greek completely sucks, so you just need to find some alternates that work for you.

For protein, I use a product called HumaPro which only requires a tiny scoop mixed in water for 25 grams. I use the Mango flavor but it also comes in sour grape which I haven't tried and pineapple which I don't like.

HumaPro also has protein pills (5 = 25 grams) which I also take to hit about 120 grams total per day at 10 months post op.

FYI - I also notice there's a lot of bad advice on this site so when someone comments that it's impossible to get zero calories in a protein supplement, they should do the research first. 

No need to take my word, just google the product.

1 serving = .02 calories = 25 grams of protein

You're right. People should do some research. It is absolutely, positively, 100% impossible to get 25 grams of protein, and only .02 calories. That's just insane. There's no such thing as a free lunch. If you want to screw up your own health, go ahead, but don't spread this garbage to other people.

Before sending out your nastygram, look it up yourself. Your like a scientist telling everyone the world is flat because you don't know better.

I have looked it up. The product is total crap. There is absolutely no way in this universe you can get 25 grams of protein and only .02 calories. There are plenty of companies looking to make a profit by selling worthless products to consumers looking for shortcuts.

There are two basic labels types you will find on products. One will say "Nutrition Facts," and list the amount of protein, fat, carb, calories, and the ingredients in the product. When it says "Nutrition Facts," you know the product is food, and is regulated by the FDA. Products are submitted for testing and approval.

The second type of label says "Supplement Facts." It will list the items contained in the supplement, such as amino acids, vitamin, and minerals. It is NOT considered food, and is not regulated as such by the FDA. The product is not submitted for testing and approval, and the potency and purity are not evaluated or tested. Lots of worthless crap, made by unscupulous people are sold as "Supplements" for that very reason. And shame on the Vitamin Shoppe for making money off this scam as well.

Besides which, the crazy calorie and protein claims AREN'T EVEN LISTED UNDER SUPPLEMENT FACTS! You can see the product label here:

The calorie and protein "equivalency" is just marketing hype. They cover their asses by NOT putting it under Supplement Facts. Because it's not a fact. Just marketing trickery.

If this stuff is such a miracle product that there are 25 grams of protein and .02 calories, why isn't it in everything? Throw in some stevia or aspartame, some fiber? Where are the 2 calorie protein bars, and everything else you can imagine? Because those are food. They require "Nutrition Facts" labels, and would require products actually contain what they claim. And they don't exist, because it isn't real.

This Humapro either has a lot more than the .02 calories it claims, or a lot less than the 25 grams of protein. It just simply cannot have both. So you have either been taking in less protein, or more calories. As for your "outstanding results," look up "placebo effect." Just because you drank their Koolade, doesn't mean you should be luring desperate people into this scam.

Koolade, by the way, is considered a food. Humapro isn't.

Thanks so much is the mango flavor tolerable? I need the pills. I am post op 2 weeks 3 weeks this Friday and I can not do the shakes naymore.

I take 3 HumaPro pills in the morning and 3 at night.

Most days I also add the Mango flavored protein powder to a bottle of cold water. Between the pills and powder, it's 55 grams going down much easier than any other options I've seen.

After 10 months, I've lost 140lbs and my lab work is close to perfect so I know the plan works.
