The Weekend After Surgery: Feeling Much Better
on 7/18/15 5:45 pm
I had my surgery on the 13th, spend 24 hours in an ICU (it's how my doctor does it and it's a smart idea) and was sent to my room for a day until the 15th.
I came home on the 15th and every day, I've been feeling better!
List of notable things:
1. CO2 pain is very underrated! No pain medication will solve this, only walking and time.
2. I didn't get my hunger bac****il last night, and that was at about 10pm. It wasn't hard to solve. (SF Jello serving and a while later, sip more water.
3. Getting enough protein is pretty easy with the Premier Protein shakes that I bought previously.
4. The first couple of stools will be tarry with remnant blood after surgery. Makes your intestines feel like they burn a little. (plus the gas rushes things)
Soon enough, my main incision will feel less painful and I'll be able to sleep back in my bed instead of a recliner. I'm a side/belly sleeper by heart.

It gets better fast, although overall it's a journey you can't and shouldn't rush. Just follow the program each day, forget about the scale and try to enjoy the ride as your pants size declines each month. Since Nov, I've gone from a 44 pants to a 31. It's still hard for me to believe.

It does go well after the first few days! On day 19 here after sleeve. The weight comes off fast for about a week and then a bit of a stall for another week or so. So don't be surprised. Hang in there, each day you feel better.
