Day 4 after VSG - progress . . .
Surgery on July 1st, today is the 5th, lost about 8 lbs. On a liquid diet for about another week. Have appointment with surgeon tomorrow to remove JT drain (7 hour round trip drive, ugh). I am still fairly weak, taking pain meds no more than twice a day instead of every 4-6 hours though. No vomiting yet, mild nausea at the worst. Walking 5 min spurts 5 times a day. Stomach area is sore but tolerable. My instructions say to drink only until you are full. LOL I have to chuckle at that because I have yet to be even hungry. So if I start the day feeling full, do I not eat or drink anything? So right now it is more a forced. I do stop when my stomach starts to spasm which is right now the only indicator I have of being full. For the most part this has gone much more smoothly than I thought it might.
Just wish I had a little more energy, some others sound like they are out walking 3 miles a day. Maybe they are younger than me? I'm 59.5 and arthritic. So maybe it is more my lifestyle not to be moving quite as fast in recovery that way.
