First few days after VSG surgery!

Had surgery on Wednesday the 1st.  All went well and returned home on the 2nd -- 3.5 hours in the car but stopped at all the rest stops to get my walk in.  Drank a little water in the car.  Felt really pretty good during the day.

That night was not particularly comfortable in bed so went out to the recliner about 1 a.m.  Slept reasonably well out there.  Have not had any issues with nausea other than a couple of times a little dry heaving.  The only real pain is my stomach area (duh) that seems like I had someone kick me hard in the abdomen.  Today I am walking around the house in 5 minute stretches, drinking as much water as I can and having double milk as a snack along with some plain yogurt.  I have to return to the hospital on Monday to get my drain bag removed.  7 hours round trip..... cross my fingers that goes ok.

Haven't had a bowel movement yet, urinating well.  Although being on a smooth diet for two weeks prior and now on liquids I am not surprised.  Anything I should be expecting to happen?  When does the surgical pain subside to the point I won't need my pain pills?  I know it is different for everyone but just curious as to what the time frame was.  Weighed myself this morning and gained 5 pounds, hmmmm must be the IV etc.

Everyone gains weight after surgery. You're pumped full of fluids. It'll go down fast.

Glad to hear your doing well. Have a great weekend.
