Umm.....WOW

I know I get a little long winded with these posts, so let me just hit the highlights of this week rather than writing a book

1) This was the last of a three week marathon travel schedule. Glad its done.

2) Every restaurant we went to in New Jersey served BIG food. Its like they compete for who can have the most obscene serving size (On a side note - Props to all of you out east that are exposed to that every day. I can tell you it would really tax my discipline)

3) Whether it was coincidence or my body simply giving out after the travel schedule, I ended the week in "gastrointestinal distress ".

4) The result was one day drinking some protein shakes, and a couple other with almost zero carbs and only about 1000 cal per day.

I'm just starting to feel a little normal. I think I went back into ketosis which is helping the weight loss in addition to losing quite a bit of water weight. Through this I've stayed well hydrated, but still I'm sure I dropped a lot of water.

Travel will slow down a little bit now. I'll only be gone one night this week. I'll be surprised if I don't gain some weight back this week, especially water weight, but I'll be working to maintain as much of this weeks loss as I can.

Have a great week all.

So I'm  only down 18 lbs this past month. Walking  doesn't  seem to help  with the weight loss but makes me feel better. I bought a curl bar to work out my arms and chest. Hopefully I'll be ready for vacation in Orange  Beach  in 2 weeks. Time to hit the beach and water.

This week:  172.6

"Gastrointestinal distress" sounds like a euphemism for a good case of the ****s!  BTDT!

Damn glad I don't work for McKinney or Dallas PD's.  Last week or two has not done much for their stress levels.  Trickles down to the smaller agencies as well.  Brings to the fore front of your thinking that we often deal with people who are not playing with full decks and we have a dearth of the assets the larger agencies have to deal with situations like these.

Only exercise has been yard work and chasing my own tail around.

Have a Great Week Gents!

Bowel cleansing ****s.

I jus****ched a news report that showed some lady on CNN calling the dallas shooter couragous. I almost fell out of my chair. I understand the PD has asked for a formal apology from CNN and the person specifically with no response. This is really sad.

I've always had family in law enforcement, so I've always been very sympathetic to what our police deal with.  This situation is very sad.  As for the anchor, I don't see how she will keep her job after this.  And she shouldn't.

I'm okay with this.  The past week has been very stressful.  Thursday was our layoff day.  I'm a teacher, and our district cut 17 teaching positions, out of about 210.  I had good evaluation scores, and I knew I should've been safe, but they were very secretive about the process, so everyone was worried.  They made phone calls between 5:00-6:30, and fortunately my wife and I didn't get calls.  Unfortunately, we did lose some teachers who had been there for a long time, but had some run-ins with administration before.

To make it even better, during that call window, I was driving to the UP of Michigan to attend my aunt's funeral.  Thursday was also the last day of school.  The kids had their final exams until noon, and then we had work time until 3:00.  So literally as soon as the clock struck three, we jumped in the car and started driving.  The funeral started at 7:00, and I made it there at 7:05.

Now that all this is done, my stress levels should be back to normal (or better than normal, with no work for a couple of months now).  I don't have much more to lose, and I'm ready to hit it.  I actually did really well with my eating overall this week, and I'm kind of surprised at myself about this.  But I also had some stuff I shouldn't have had.

Have a great week everyone!

Waiting on the shoe to drop is a mind/gut wretcher.

Sorry about your aunts passing.

Enjoy your summer!

Wow.... would be stressful to be cut that way?  I am a retired teacher... surprised that the master contract there didn't protect the long-time teachers from being cut just because of possible admin run-ins from the past?  Terrible way to handle things!  Teachers that shouldn't be teaching should be cut through due process not on the chopping block when staffing needs to be decreased.  That should be based solely on seniority and certification, nothing more.  I know I am off subject, but these kind of things make me incensed :-)

I'm with you on this.  Unfortunately, the Republican-led legislature has been on the warpath against teachers and our unions.  Besides passing Right to Work, they also changed the law so that you cannot look at seniority when it comes to reductions.  You can only look at the very subjective evaluation scores.  There's four levels:  ineffective, minimally effective, effective, and highly effective.  Only the ones who were highly effective (score of 95%+) were safe.  We lost some really experienced teachers, and according to their evaluations, they weren't doing a bad job.
