Food Porn Alrert...read at your own risk!!
There we go. This week was a pretty good week even though I still could do better with the eating. I was able to get back to the gym with the trainer, and was able to do a better job tracking my food. I started bringing protein bars with me to events to eat instead of eating the stupid pastries. Overall, I'm satisfied.
This week, I'm in New Jersey for four days. the last time I was there was 6 months before surgery. I was with a co-worker from Brazil and when we got to our hotel, we were ready for dinner. Adjacent to the hotel was a restaurant so we went there. WOW. We SPLIT a small sandwich and an order or fries, and still didn't finish dinner. Some sandwiches there have 10# of meat on them. As I was having dinner, I was actually discussing surgery with my co-wroker. Here is a picture of the small sandwich we shared.
Segway two years later, and I will be at the same hotel. I've been thinking about this place this week, and how far I've come since then. I doubt I'll go back there. It would be a shame to spend $25 on a small sandwich and eat 10% of it. still, the gravitational pull to go back there exists. Damn food demons.
Summer really started this week. We are seeing tempertures over 80 degrees and might even hit 90. For those of you in the south I can already hear the "Meh", but for Minnesota, its a great time of year. I'm looking forward to slowing down my travel this summer and enjoying the summer a little bit. Its a good thing to smell the roses a little bit.
Have a great week everyone.
Yea John way to go! The samich does look like it would have been fun to take down. What part of NJ will you be working in? I am just outside in the burbs of Philly. It would be cool just to say hey. Let me know.
My weigh in...
Last week= 297
this week=292
Highest= 427
Day of surgery 3/16/15=362
I realy cant belive this as I am not even technicaly at 3 months yet. I have been riding my bike a little more each time. I went about 40 min or more yesterday. Just cruising around the local towns. I have not started lifting yet, but my new hospital has a fitness center that I can got to for $10 a month. My arms actualy feel skinny to me. I saw myself in a reflection in a window this week and couldnt belive I actualy look "regular"? I still have gut to loose and so far not to much loose skin. We will see what the next month or so brings.
$10 is a pretty good deal. Hopefully they have good equipment.
The loose skin is coming, trust me. But it's also worth it. It's a badge of honor for how far we've come. Eventually I'm hoping to have it removed, but I'm okay with it for now.

150 lost and maintaining!
High Weight: 380
Starting Weight: 350
Last Week: 212.7
Current Weight: 207.7
Holy drop! I've been pretty steady lately, and I obviously broke through that. My 8 month surgiversary was yesterday, and I hit my overall goal of 210 lbs! Quite a milestone week for me. My plan is to keep losing, get to 199 (just so I can say I was under 200, and according to BMI, 199 would be "normal" for me), and then move into maintenance. I figure this will give me a cushion when I add more calories and hopefully I'll stay under 210. But who knows, maybe I'll like the lighter weight and try to stay down there.
I also think it's great how my attitude towards food has changed. Before surgery, I definitely would've taken down that sandwich. Last summer, I visited Bub's Burgers in Indianapolis, ate their "Big Ugly" burger (1 pound AFTER cooking beef patty, huge bun, and toppings) and got my picture on the wall. Now, I look at that sandwich and I thought "That would be great! Dinner and at least 3 more meals out of it!" We'll be out of town for almost 3 weeks this summer, and I made sure that all of our hotel rooms have mini fridges, so when we go out, and can still take the leftovers.
Michigan is not quite as warm as Minnesota yet, but we will be hitting mid 80's this week, so not too far off. I'm definitely looking forward to summer this year.
Have a great week everyone!

150 lost and maintaining!
Nice loss, John. Your loss and maintenance is really impressive with how much travelling you do. I'm nervous about the 3 weeks I'm going to be gone this summer.

150 lost and maintaining!
Thanks. You'll do fine. Over the last 8 months, you've learned a new paradigm for eating. Stay with what you know. On one hand, its ok to be on vacation and have some fun. On the other, three weeks is a long time to have too much fun.
My advice is to plan like crazy. You already said you are looking for places that have fridges. I would also start planning where you want to go eat. Start reviewing the restaurants you want to try, and check out the menu's online. In fact, I often know what I am going to order in a restaurant hours if not days before I step foot in there.
Lastly, put that weight loss to good use. Walk, walk, walk, walk and dothe things that you always wanted to do, but couldn't. You'll be surprised at the energy you have.
336.5: High weight FEB 2015
297.5: Official acceptance into pre-op
295.4: 5 weeks to surgery, today!
Doing well so far, trying to maintain until June 30th when I start the two week blended diet pre-op of 800 cals odd days, 1200 cals, even days. Found some peanut butter powder that was in my suggested menu from the U of Iowa bariatric center at Hy-Vee for $1.00 a pack, had never heard of it before but it works well in a smoothie with banana, yogurt and skim milk!
