I started this year on February 27th.  Just preparing for surgery in July.  Plan on monthly visits with a dietician/nutritionist and documenting all your food intake for about 8-12 weeks.  I think most bariatric surgeions plan on you trying to lose about 10% of your weight prior to surgery.  I only visited with the surgical team twice, once for the initial consult and after 4 months.  Now that may change in your cir****tance because I lived 250 miles from the hospital and  they allowed me to meet with a local dietician instead of going to the bariatric center every month.  Good luck in your prep for this.  Hopefully it will go well for all of us!
