Hi everyone,

I'm new on this site and would like to meet and make new friends that is on the same journey, share in the highs and the lows and so on.

A bit about myself: I'm a 43 year old male from Johannesburg, South Africa. I started my journey "officially" on 11 Feb 2015 with my first consult. I weighed in at 253.5 lbs (115kg) with a BMI of 39.8. I had my RNY gastric bypass last week, 15 April 2015. My weight just before the op was 224.8 lbs (102kg). All thanks to a fantastic dietician! I took a peak at my weight this morning and I'm on 216.7 lbs (98.3kg). Hurray!

Doing great so far...still a bit tender and trying to find that "perfect" serving size that is not too little and not too much, and not causing too much discomfort. But, getting there...almost have it figured out.

Would love to hear from you.

Regards

Johann

Johann....

Howdy from E. TX!

Congrats and hang on for the ride of your life.  Will be a lot of trial and error when it comes to eating selections and portions.  Don't get discouraged when the digits aren't falling off fast.  This is a MARATHON not a sprint!

Thank you Don 1962. I love the saying that it is a Marathon and not a Sprint! I will remember that...especially since I'm the type of person who wants things done NOW. And being a bit of an impatient perfectionist also doesn't help. But then again, like I mentioned to the psychologist in our sessions pre-op, it is time to change direction in my life on all levels: relationships (with people, my work, with food) and discarding that what doesn't work for me. On a lighter note, I also said to him "Some men have a mid-life crises and buys expensive bikes, get a new, young girlfriend...THIS is my mid-life change: not a crises".

Great meeting you and hope to hear from you again soon.

Thank you for the encouragement EP1958. And good for you on the 140 lbs loss. Well done!! It is absolutely my plan to stick to the "original plan". I made a commitment to myself and to me my word is my honor and my bond: even if that commitment is to myself.

Would love to hear from you again and share in your success further!

Thanks mate...and well done on your weight loss so far! I have to agree, reading through some of the posts in the various forums really opened my eyes and I started realizing that some of the "stuff" I'm going through or thinking about is not that crazy after all! Keep going and again, well done on the loss so far! Good for you!
