311.3:  Surgery day 1/16/14

190.2:  Last Weigh in

193.4: CW

180.0: Goal weight

WTF!!

Before I left on my trip, I weighed in at 188.2. No way I gained 5# in 5 days. I'm still coming to grips with the weight fluctuations. I know that much of what I'm carrying is water, and I need to bite the bullet and get a better scale to start measuring that.

I actually did pretty well last week with excersize and eating, although I probably ate a little too much Mexican food. I am not traveling for the most part these next two weeks, so getting my ass to the gym more frequently and getting a handle on my diet are a high priority - starting as soon as I'm done writing this post.

My goal for next week is to report a weight of 190 or below.

Have a great weekk everyone.

I'm back from my vacation...such a wonderful time. I could definitely live in Monaco! (If I was rich, of course!). On my 2 week vacation (France/Monaco), according to FitBit I traveled over 112 miles by foot! WOW! I lost a bunch of weight in week one, but week two I found a love affair with sweets and rich coffee.

It was vacation and I was controlled but I hadn't had ANYTHING 'bad' to eat since my surgery. All told, I'm still down almost 7 pounds during the vacation. I'm hoping to drop some more as I know for a fact I'm dehydrated from travel yesterday (I had 3 planes, 3 countries and 27 hours and I didn't get very much water or food in).

Dreading going back to work tomorrow, this was the best vacation I've ever taken in my life and I think the "real world" is going to sting a bit tomorrow. :)

The best news, I'm no longer in the 300s!! I'm over 150 pounds lost since September. WOW!!

Have a good weekend gents!

Vacation can be tough, but it sounds like you handled it like a pro. Its been a few years since I was in Europe, but I can envision how tempting the food would be over there.

Losing the 3 in front of your way sounds like a pretty nasty FART. Congratulations!!

Hi Guys

John and Nate thanks for sharing your weight loss journey. It is very helpful and inspiring to those of us just starting. Congrats on your weight loss!

I started out at 337 and today weigh 328. I have cut out coffee caffeine and carbonated drinks. It has been very difficult having headaches for 3 days. Finally starting to get over caffeine withdrawal. It is amazing to me how much weight you have both lost

Have a good week

Thank you very much. I'm only getting close to my goal, and don't feel like a vet. I still have a lot to learn.

Congratulations on getting started. Cutting caffeine and carbonation can be tough. For the first six months after surgery, I couldn't stand the taste of coffee. My taste buds had changed. After drinking tea for that time I was slowely able to start drinking coffee again. As far as carbonation goes, I used to be a junkie, and even now I still get some withdrawls. It still hurts when I try to drink anything carbonated so I just don't do it. It does get easier though

Oh man, I think quitting caffeine was the hardest part of this whole thing for me.  I dropped it about 6 weeks before my surgery, and I was miserable for two weeks.  Now, I'm definitely glad I got rid of it.

Its funny I used wow a few times in that post. I have been using that a lot since my surgery and being on this site.

I was suprised at how much I can do now that I never thought I would be able to do again. When I was on vacation a couple weeks ago, I was hiking some pretty tough trails in the Appalachian's. Its been 30 years since I would have even thought of doing that, but after losing the weight and excersizing, it was absolutely no problem. It was even fun (I never thought I would even consider this as fun).

Put the time into taking care of yourself. Eat right, excersize your butt off, and today you can't even imagine what you'll be capable of in a year.

Every morning as I am getting dressed, I look at the size of my cloths and say to myself "This will never fit". Every morning, my cloths are loose on me. Its really amazing.

Have fun with your bike. That's great excersize as well as a great activity.
