Fever
So I woke up yesterday with a big headache and with the chills, I went to the ER and said I was running a fever of 101.6. They did blood work, checked my urine, x-rays of my chest and tummy finally a spinal fluid test ( to rule out meningitis ). Everything came back normal, I havent had a fever of 101.6 but last I checked it was 99.4. They said that it was a virus and it would resolve on its own. I'm 4 weeks post op rny by the way, so my question is has this happened to anyone, is it normal, should I be worried? One more thing, I have no belly pain just a bit nauseous that's it. Thanks in advance!!
We can get the flu at any time. Sorry it happened when it did. Be extra careful to get your protein and fluids in. Know the signs of dehydration just in case (can find them on the internet). Just wondering if they gave you an IV. I hope so...that can really help with the electrolytes (sodium-potassium exchange). Brian
Dittos to what Brian said about dehydration. Learned that lesson the HARD way in January 2013 with a light case of the flu and found my deflated hairy hiney in the hospital for a couple of days. Granted I did come to the conclusion that having a Foley would have been a good thing back in my beer drinking days!
I'm almost two years post op. I have young children. About 3 weeks in I got a little bug and a fever that wouldn't go away. I ended up going to the hospital where they ran a bunch of tests - the low grade fever stuck around due to dehydration. After some fluids I was much better and fever less.
