Surgery is one week out.
The gas takes about 6-10 days to pass. Try sitting or lying in different positions to move it along. Also use your hands to massage the stomach area (without hurting the surtures). Don't know if they told you about the gas. While the doctor is doing the procedure he/she is blowing regular air in different areas to see if there is any leaks during the procedure...So this air is stuck throughout your body. It may even go into your shoulder area. It will pass and each day should be easier and easier. If you're not sure with stuff...Check with your doctor's office. Don't be afraid to ask.
Today's the first full day home from hospital. There were a few things in my blood they were watching and I needed to have a bowel movement before they'd send me home. I have released quite a bit of gas ect, but still do have a crampy abdomen that's rolling pretty good. Hopefully in a couple days that'll be all cleared up. Outside of that and some discomfort from my drain incision I don't feel physically bad at all. My mind is a little out of whack, I'm having the thoughts of "why the hell did I do this? I could be eating healthy cereal right now and be fine" but hopefully as results start to show and I improve physically my mind will catch up and the slight regret will leave my mind. I want to focus on the opportunity here and make the hard work worth it, but the thought of voluntarily taking a tall Blue Moon and a steak out of my options feels terrible right now.
By the way, the gas did make it up to my shoulders in a sharp radiating pain, it was very uncomfortable. Sleeping in my own house makes a huge difference tho, even tho I'm on couch for back support for a day or two, I am able to sleep on my side pretty comfortably. I'm usually a stomach sleeper but I think that's a few weeks away.
Thanks for the replies!
