Weight gain 4 years post-op

Hello all, I have just passed my 4 year post-op and have been gaining weight steadily for the past 6 months. My highest weight was 560lbs and I managed to get down to 292lbs. I currently weigh 350lbs. I'm scared to death because of this weight gain. I know I'm not doing what I'm supposed to. I eat things I shouldn't. Can anyone give me some advice on how to get back on track. I also fear I may have stretched my pouch.

Throwing things out from left field...Not an expert on this.  Try and keep simple carbs out of the house...If they are not there...Less temptation.  Consider the DS surgery.  Many of those who can't get to their needed weight will go that route.  There is a thread going on right now on the DS board concerning a man working to get a revision surgery from RNY to the DS.  There is more malabsorption and more to watch on the vitamin front with the DS.  But many are successful that way.  Also a local support group or group of friend to keep you accountable may help.  Wondering how you can incorporate exercise into your daily routine also. There is a procedure called the ROSE for RNYers.  It is not very successful, but for some it has helped...Making the pouch smaller again.  Good luck on your journey.  Ask questions if we can help.  Brian

Hey, it's all relative. My highest was 384, got down to 212, now five years out and holding at 244. I weighed 328 on surgery day.

So, I've been away from the websites & boards for a couple years, just perusing again. I, too worry about regain (so many of us do worry). And... I'm doing things I shouldn't. So, do I have a lot of help to offer? Nothing magical. What do I think would make me get back on track? Dealing better with my emotional issues. I turn to food for comfort, and I'm lazy by nature. I fell into alcoholism for a few years after surgery, currently sober six months, and I sure don't miss all the calories from the nightly six pack+++.

For me, it's time to get my butt to a counselor and deal with my **** And to do some of the eating behaviors I know work for me.

What will it take for you to do some of the things you need to do?

Feelin' your pain, my friend.

@Edward D - I'm not sure what advice I can give you since I am still trying to get to my goal weight. The fear of regain is always in the back of my mind however. I've read your post a couple of times as well as the responses, and I think you know what's going on. Unfortunatly, the surgery was on our guts and not on our heads. Reading your post, you know what you're doing wrong, and you know what you need to do.

If you're not doing so, you may want to get some help with working through the head issues. That aside, you still have your weight loss tool. You can use that, and marry it with more activity. I'm pretty sure you wont lose as fast as before, but you simply()  need to steer the ship in a different direction.

One solid thought would be to post your progress every week on our accountibilty thread. I use that post as a tool to make sure that I am excersizing, taking my vitamins, drinking my fluids and charting all my calories routinely.

Good luck to you for sure, and please keep us posted on how you're doing.
