Orange Bowl Sunday Weigh In

Told my Chief that if he wants me to work New Year's Day that's fine but don't plan on me being there at my normal butt crack of dawn early since will be a late night New Year's Eve.  DW may regret getting me a cowbell for Christmas!

Last week:  175.2

This week:  176.4

End of 2013:  172.8

Up nearly four pounds for the year.  Not good.  Have had some bad eating habits, too many carbs, creep back in.  Need to get back on track for next year.  Granted somebody had to do "quality control" of DW's chocolate chip cookies yesterday so I volunteered for the gig.

Cowboys end their regular season today at Washington.  Demarco Murray needing 26 yards to break Emmitt Smith's single season record.  Hopefully they win and the NFL Universe aligns so they have home field advantage for the Playoffs.

For 2015 I wish each and every one of you guys a Happy and Blessed New Year both WLS related and life in general.  Parts of my 2014 were well within tolerances but there were some parts that were not.  Just have to see what happens starting Thursday.

 Happy New Year!

This has been a tough holiday season so far. I’ve had to remind myself several times that I had surgery on my guts not my head, and I need to keep my head in the game. I went over 200# for a brief time, which both scared me a bit, and pissed me off providing some motivation to get back to basics for the past few days.

With plates of cookies and other treats all over the place, I was reminded of an incident that happened when my son was visiting with my 2 year old grandson. My grandson was sitting on my son’s lap, with his hand ****ed back ready to strike!!

My son: Oliver, are you going to make a good choice or a bad choice

Oliver: Bad Choice!!! (as he starts his swing at my son)

On more than one occasion, I had the same conversation in my head as I stared at a plate of anything that would derail me. And on more than one occasion I said to myself “Bad Choice” as I stuffed cookies, pies and other crap into my piehole. Oliver got a timeout for his actions. For me, I mull these choices over and over in my head. In the end, I know I will make more bad choices. I refuse to beat myself up over them, but rather I will learn from them and use that to fuel better choices over the long term

I’m about 15# from my stated goal, I’m about 17# from my personal goal and if I consider what my Dr told me when I had surgery, I have passed his goal. I started this process exactly a year ago today with the beginning of my Pre-Op diet. I’ve lost over 142#. Good choices or bad choices aside last week, I’m pretty happy with 2014

One more holiday to get through, and its back to a more normal routine. We can do it!!

Happy New Year Everyone

PS - Go Lions, its time to get that Lambeau field monkey off your back !! Also, hopefully this afternoon or tomorrow we will be welcoming Jim back home.

High Weight: 380

Starting Weight: 350

Last Week: 276

Current Weight: 270

I'm pretty pumped that it was another big drop for me this week.  I navigated the Christmas parties really well, and only had a single sugar-free sugar cookie.  It felt weird not going to the gym for two days in a row (I go to the local YMCA, so they were closed Christmas Eve and Day), but jumped right back in the day after Christmas.

270 was my lowest adult weight.  In 1998 I did the Atkins Diet, and I got down to 270.  Unfortunately, I immediately started gaining, and was back up to 350 by 6 months later.  This time, it's very exciting, because I know I'm going to keep losing.  Also, my doctor set a goal of 250 for me, and I'm only 20 lbs away with less than 3 months since surgery.

The Harbaugh-to-Michigan rumors are going crazy, with reports of "it's done" coming last night.  I suppose we'll know for sure by Tuesday.  As for the Lions, I'm really hoping that they prove everyone wrong and get a win today.  Even though they're excellent at home, the Packers have been vulnerable the last month.  The Lions offense has also been pretty bad, but this defense is truly Super-Bowl caliber.  If they can pressure Rogers early, and prevent him from getting into an early groove, I like our chances.

No big plans for New Year's Eve this year, just hanging out.  2014 has ended incredible, and I can't wait to see what 2015 will be like.

Happy New Year everyone, and stay safe!

I did pretty good at Christmas, had 1 bite of pumpkin pie and 1 sugar cookie. Yes, I know not great but I was happy to have only 1 and be able to control myself. With the mild winter here in Chicago so far, I was out walking 5 days this week with my shortest distance being 3.1 miles. All in all I'm pretty happy with my week. I've been focusing on more fluids as I notice there's some days I'm barely eking in 8 cups. I've been good in the past few days at 11-13 cups.

Dolphins are out of the playoffs, surprising to no one. As long as New England doesn't win, I'll be satisfied.

Have a great end of 2014 everyone!
