Normal yo-yo'ing it looks like for me this week.

"Formal" City Christmas party is this week.  Went to the Mrs.'s clinic party Friday then had to make a birthday party for the youngest granddaughter.  Trying not to over do it but while the spirit is willing the body is week.

Cowboys in Philly tonight so have time to get a few things done this afternoon.

Have a Great Week guys!

Thank you! It's been a process, but seeing that -82 keeps me going.

To those talking about holiday parties, I just had my work party Thursday. It was pretty hard to be there. My clothes don't fit well so I hurriedly bought a new sweater to thrown on. My feet have shrunk, so my shoes were a bit sloppy feeling. All in all those were my biggest challenges. I had already decided to leave before the food was served. My company believes in a lot of liquor first, then food, then a ton of more liquor. So in my 2 hours there, I had water and made pleasantries. The CEO did his speech and announced food and I bolted. I just could not be around all of that food and bad choices waiting to be had. I had fun, I made an appearance and was smart about my plan before hand.

Sounds like you made some good choices.

One thing I wasn't prepared for this year was how much smaller my hands and feet are. I no longer wear wide shoes, and as I was preparing for a long Minnesota winter, I found that my hands have shrunk from XL to medium gloves.

High Weight: 380

Starting Weight: 350

Last Week: 282

Current Weight: 281

At least I finally lost a pound this week!  I also finally got exercising at the end of the week, and I made it to the gym Thurs, Fri, and Sat.  I may even go this afternoon before the game.  It was really shocking when I was able to do 3.5 MPH on the treadmill!  I've never been able to go that fast before.  Exercise was the one area that I was slacking, and I'm determined to start going at least 5 days a week.  I've even made plans to get up and go at 5 am a couple of days when I know I'm going to be extremely busy.

This week should be the last of the Lions' "easy" games against the Vikings.  The Vikes are playing better than when we beat them earlier in the season, but we're at home, and our DLine is going to tee off on Bridgewater.

I'm skipping the work Christmas party this week, because I'm not ready to be around all that temptation yet.  Fortunately, everyone knows I had the surgery, and they all totally understand.  Sweets don't tempt me at all, but the other stuff like chicken wings, potato skins, etc. definitely would.

Keep working hard everyone!

Social gatherings can be a minefield. Had plenty of meat and veggies at clinic party to do fine. Wound up with some kind of strawberry tequila mix in gift exchange. It will be regifted at informal employees party later in week.

This is a tough season to get through. My two issues pre-surgery were eating too large of quantities of food and grazing at buffets/gatherings. At the Christmas party I went to this past week, there were some mindeful choices that I made, but t was tough. I agree with your strategy of staying away for now. This is the time when you should be learning new habits for the future.

Generally, I'm okay being around not-so-great food.  On Saturday we went out with my Father in law, and ended up at Outback.  While he's having his blooming onion, beer, and cheese fries, I had my Grilled Mahi with mixed veggies, and was perfectly fine.

But with the buffet, I know it'll be too easy to say, "oh, I can have just a little".  And that's definitely not something I want to do at this stage.

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

337.6:  High weight Dec '13

311.3:  Surgery day 1/16/14

196.2:  Last Weigh in

196.0: CW

180.0: Goal weight

Pretty much status quo this week. The week started off pretty roughly with my kids still in town. I was in Florida two days in the middle of the week and had to deal with Indian Food one night and a Christmas party another night. Other than that, I've been pretty good with mindful eating. I was able to get two good workouts in, but I need to get to the gym more as well.

It was interesting in Florida, as many of the people at the Christmas party had not seen me in over 6 months, and some had not seen me since surgery. I won't lie, its kind of funny when someone I work with walks right by me because they don't recognize me. I like it. On the other hand, people are so used to seeing me big, that I am being told to stop losing weight becasue I am getting too skinny. I appreciate the comments, and I understand where they are coming from, but I have my goal and long term plan and I'm sticking to it. I want a normal BMI, followed by a body mass analysis. I really do not have a weight goal, I really want to be at 15-20% fat. My weight can be where it needs to as long as I am less than 20% fat. I'll get that analysis done in January for my surgiversary.

With Michigan on hiatus until next year (with the exception of a coaching search), and my fantasy team done for the year, I can focus on the Lions and Packers. I am cheering for Buffalo as I write this. With the Lions the masters of their own destiny, so it’s going to be an exciting few weeks.

Have a great week everyone.
