March Madness is down to two:  Kentucky and Connecticut.

On the NASCAR circuit it is Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, if it is not rained out.

More personal note - tomorrow is my six year surgiversary.  Not happy with the digits this morning but it is what it is.  Beats the crap out of my former 331 pound self.  Still protein first, get all the vitamins in every day, try to exercise on a regular basis and get the water in.  Dehydration is a ***** to be avoided.  I have faltered some on the drinking with meals and I'm still a chocaholic.

If you are a newbie reading this WLS is not, I repeat NOT, the easy way out!  It takes work.  Lots of it.  I'll launch a preemptive strike against the question "would I have done it sooner?" by saying the WLS route is like quitting smoking, drinking or any other vice, it ain't going to work for you till your head is ready for it to work!  If your head ain't ready save yourself, and everybody else involved, some time, work, aggravation and money and hold off till it is.   Stepping down from soapbox.

Have a Great Week!!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

337.6:  High weight Dec '13
311.3:  Surgery day 1/16/14
254:  CW (5.4# lost this week)
180.0: Goal weight

Had a good week. I was able to get three cardio workouts in, and even though I probably ate too much (darn Mexican food), I was able to limit bad carbs and stay with mainly protein. I'm trtying to get three or foru cardio workouts in per week, and I am seeing a personal traininer this afternoon to see if I can get some strength training in. I'd like to build some muscle mass as I lose fat and weight.

I'm going to be in California this week, so I anticipate a good week. I shoudl be able to get lots of walking in as well as a couple good workouts. I'm finding that I am less tolerant of others around me eating foods that I know are a problem for me. My mother in law has been in town for 1 1/2 weeks, and she has not eaten anything healthy since she's been here. I don't know why it aggrevates me so much, I don't eat it, but still its starting to get on my nerves a little bit. She leaves this week, so all the crap food can leave the house again.

I hope everyine has a great week. Be safe, happy and healthy!!

John,

Two thoughts come to mind:

1.  Some of the lack of tolerance may be related to the hormone dumping thing that goes on.  BTDT.

2.  Your MIL might be the second best woman in the world, sorry I'm married to the best and she is standing over my shoulder, but house guest are like fish in the refrigerator - after three days they need to go!!!!!!!!!!!

291.6 Last Week

287.6 This morning

Process is still moving along need to get to the gym and start working out more than just walking. Doctor gave me the okay to start lifting this coming Friday as long as there is no pain.

I have been getting 60+ oz of water and I am still working to get it to the 96 the nut wants me drinking. I hate the protein shakes but need them to get in the protein so I choke them down. I have no desire to eat what so ever but force myself as much as I can.

Have a great week everyone.

Great job Kevin. Keep working on the water, and take advantage of this time when you'll lose the most weight. Walking helps ALOT. I use fitbit to track my steps, and it feeds into myfitnesspal. This works for me, you need to figure out what works best for you. I started getting cardio in this week, and saw big weight loss. Not sure if they are related, but it makes going to the gym easier thinking that its helping teh weight loss.

Keep up the good work. I know you'll be successful.

Thanks Bill!  Your running exploits have impressed me!  Makes my knees hurt to think about getting above a walk.

The Numbers:
346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
198: Weigh In 3/30/14

196: This Week 4/6/14 -->2 lb loss BMI=29

150 Total Weight Loss

OK,pretty happy with the numbers. Primarily, because the 196 is my number representing a 150 pound loss.  Did pretty well this week with eating, be mindful most of the time.

A good week w/ vitamins and water intake. Been trying to ensure I always have water with me to remember to drink it consistently!

Good week for exercise. Worked out 6 out of 7 days, couple days of spin classes and couple days of running. Also, getting back to do some strength training as well. Idea is to just do SOMETHING healthy!

Have a great week!!

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac

@Don, congrats on your 6th surgiversary!  Couldn’t agree more on getting your head right before trekking on the WLS journey.

@John, I too get aggravated when company comes and brings the crap food with them into my home.  My aggravation stems from the fact that I choose not to have temptation near me but they do not respect or appreciate the discipline that I must exercise to do so.

@Kevin, great progress!

@Bill Mac, congrats on the 525,000 kcals lost!  May you never find them again!

    My stats this week:

           High weight:  392.0 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09:  377.5 lbs
      1st Surgiversary:  241.0 lbs
      2nd Surgiversary:  212.5 lbs
      3rd Surgiversary:  217.0 lbs
      4th Surgiversary:  214.0 lbs
Last week:  222.0 lbs / 20.1% body fat / 168.6 lbs muscle mass
This week:  222.2 lbs / 20.8% body fat / 167.4 lbs muscle mass

This week pretty much status quo overall but down 1.2 lbs muscle mass.  Back at home in my regular routine this past week, I made it to the gym on 4 days.  I did pretty well mindfully eating though had out of town family visiting this weekend.

Be safe & have a great week gentlemen!
