1st Sunday Weigh In of 2014

Last week:  172.6

This week:  175.2

Holy ****!  I retract my statement last week about my weight not creeping up after grazing on the Holiday cookies!  Need to get them out of here!  Take them to work tomorrow.  Did enjoy having wife's kids/grandkids here yesterday to do Christmas.  Still have the grands till tomorrow when they are going back to their rightful owners.  Plan is for some serious treadmill time beginning today till the digits are more tolerable.

Nothing new from here for the week other than FINALLY getting to use new truck at work.  Very first full day I used it broke it in good.  Got to carry a woman to jail.  Sorry about her luck.  Not the most nimble of vehicles but long as it does not have 193K miles and the AC works - I'll use it!

Say "hi" to all the newbies at the gym this week.  They'll be gone in a month!

@Don, yeah it’s really hard to abstain when the goodies are laid out begging to be eaten!  My wife & I finally did a “house purge” last week.

    My stats this week:

           High weight:  392 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09:  377.5 lbs
      1st Surgiversary:  241.0 lbs
      2nd Surgiversary:  212.5 lbs
      3rd Surgiversary:  217.0 lbs
      4th Surgiversary:  214.0 lbs
Last week:  229.2 lbs / 21.3% body fat / 171.6 lbs muscle mass
This week:  221.6 lbs / 23.3% body fat / 161.6 lbs muscle mass

I was able to make it to the gym 3 times (2 carido & 1 strength) and did pretty good mindfully eating this past week.  My back is much better but still a little twitchy.  I’m down 7.6 lbs overall and 10 lbs muscle mass.  My %body water is down 2% this week which probably accounts for the drastic weight loss this week (%body fat went up 2%).  So, hopefully my normal routine this next week with work and exercise will settle things down.

Be safe & have a great week gentlemen!

I hit  the gym hard this week. Also tried Elina_7's chicken tortilla soup. I really like it making a second batch today. I OD'd on football this week, rose bowl, sugar bowl, tostitos bowl, and NFL playoffs. Oh and the Bison won their 3rd FCS title in a row, my football cup runneth over.

Everyone have a great week.

Great job Shane!

I'm going to have to check out the chicken tortilla soup.

Well, I am pretty happy to say the least. As soon as Christmas was over cleaned out all of the holiday cheer and got some healthy food to replace it. That, coupled with starting training for my 2nd 1/2 Marathon in March, apparently sparked my 5 lb drop.

Hoping to keep the momentum up this week as I would like to get back to Onderland. If nothing else, I am happy to be back into my daily routine!

Pats fan...looking forward to seeing the Colts next week!!

Have a great week all!!

Yours in WLS Journey,

Have not weighed yet since I got back from vacation, so I will report in on the numbers soon!  I had creeped up to 202/203ish or so before I left and I fear the worst.  (Started at 355 in August 2011 for full disclosure/reporting purposes)

"Dieting" started again today and I am actually going all the way back to cutting out carbs to break the addiction and reset my tummy.

Pushups are going well, missed 1 day last week so I have not officially completed the 7 week program yet, will repeat week 7 this week and then do the test to see if I can do 100 push ups in a row!!  (Breaks are allowed, where you stop at the top, but cannot take your weight off your arms)

Did manage to get in a 4 mile run while in FL, mostly on trails instead of the road.  1/2 mile or more of it was in loose sand, that stuff is ugly to run on!!

I did weigh on Tuesday morning and came in at 200.x, and this morning it was 202.x  I am one of those "daily" weighers, especially when I am trying to lose weight and working on low carbs / eating just Meats / Veggies / Fruit and Dairy (milk/cheese).

Cutting out all simple sugars for now, cookies are my bane..

Sorry I'm late :)

Highest weight: 542
Pre-Christmas '13: 393
This week: 386

I haven't been taking long walks for the last weeks, visited the gym more regularly instead. Just benchpressing so I'm surprised I've lost anything :)

Noob question.... How do you count your muscle mass etc. Is there a scale that does it with enough capacity for a man my size?

I want to say I bought one at Walmart that went up that high but it might have cut off at 350.  I know my scale went to 400-500ish.

There are hand held devices that do the same bio-impedence scan,

http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HBF-306-Body-Fat-Analyzer/dp/B00 006WNPU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1243895182&sr=1-2

This is the one I use, but I found that it has a 330 pound max!  http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HBF-514C-Composition-Sensing-Mon itor/dp/B0020MMCDE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389218659&sr=8-2& keywords=bio+impedance

Final thoughts on this:  These scans are close but NOT so accurate that you should drive yourself crazy.  What I suggest is taking an "average" of the numbers it gives you and just consider that.

I could easily have 3 measurements, each at 195 pounds where my fat % has ranged from 22.x to 24.x % maybe even more.  Now my weight/body muscle and fat is really not changing THAT much, but it does allow me to guess I am in that range.

I paid for a $$$ version of this same test at my Doctors office and it was pretty close to the same % as well, but short of the "dunk" test there is nothing else as accurate.
