Share your "fart" moments...
So this board has been really quiet for awhile. We use to be really active. Most guys get their surgery, stay on a few months, then move on with their lives. Some continue over the years. I'm retired now so have more time on my hands. Just so many projects one can do. At least I'm not running in 10 directions.
Anyways...I thought we could share our fart moments. We here on The Men's Forum decided years ago not to use the "WOW" term...too feminine. So after many many tries we came up with the acronym "FART". Not sure what it stands for...Things like Fantastic, Awesome, Radical, Terrific...Something like that. The moments you were shocked with your weight loss and the things you could do. I thought the new guys might like hearing about what other guys have done. Don't be discourage of you don't get to goal, haven't even started, or failed big time. We try to be here for each other and this isn't a contest...It's a support group!! So any ways, here are my 3 in no special order. 1. Fitting into size 36 jeans. I was a young teenager when that happened last. I'm 7+ years out and have grown to a 40-42...But it's a lot better than a 52 incher!! Again, this was in my first year out. 2. Bounding up stairs 2 at a time...Again like a teenager/kid. One of those things you don't even think about till you can do it again. 3. This one is my favorite one...Why is taking so long for the bath to fill up?? I've used the same tub for over 10 years...Why is it taking longer??
So guys...What are you weightloss moments that threw you for a loop??
My "highlight reel" includes:
Going from 52/54's into 34/36's depending on the cut. XL/XXL shirts to Mediums or Larges again depending on the cut. Wearing body armor and it being fairly comfortable.
Fitting in a plane seat w/o the extender. Being able to drop trou and drop a deuce in an airplane bathroom!
Dropping a deuce in a regular size stall and not having the TP dispenser cut into my leg or being a contortionist to wipe my ass.
Being as far out as I am I have to find people who knew me as a fat person. Most of the ones I deal with now, unless I've told them, don't believe me when I tell them I used to weigh 330+.
Lest we forget the male endowment enhancement factor of WLS.
Hello fellow men. I am still working to get to 250 currently at 287 give or take. Mine was being able to shop at Walmart for clothes. Fat guy clothes are still expensive. I have not stepped foot in casual male since. Another was having my sleep apnea go from 136 episodes an hour to 18 and if it gets to between 5 and 10 no more cpap. The last is how fast I catch my self walking or my wife who I was always racing after or she had to slow down yelling at me to slow down because she always did for me. Now if you want some actual fart stories I have a few.lol
What a great thread!!! I am especially happy about this as it seems the further Post Op I get, I forget many of the FARTS I have experienced in the last 3 years.
In no particular order:
1. Going from a high of 346 to 200(The 200 fluctuates, but usually averages out to an even 200), that is a total of almost 150 POUNDS..Friggin amazing!!!
2. In terms of clothes, going from XXXL to L in shirts and a pant size of 46-48 to 34.
3. Becoming a runner, having now run 5k's, 10K's and even a 1/2 Marathon!!!!!!!!
4. Now that I think of it, probably most important being healthier now than I can remember in my adult life and my family benefting as they have all either lost weight or started eating better and being healthier as well!!!
Yours in WLS Journey,
Bill Mac
Some of the "smaller" (opposite of "bigger") moments for me have been riding the coasters and such without any worries about fitting!
Breaking into the size 38 barrier was HUGE (tiny...sheesh these "big" metaphors) for me as well. Now owning a pair of Levi Jeans with a size 34 on the tag that I am proud to display!! I used to HATE that tag...
Running after my nephew for the first time, he was on the bike/training wheels and I chased him up and down the sidewalk for thirty minutes before realizing, hey, I am running and my knees are just fine!?'
That lead to me starting Couch to 5k, 5k and finally this fall my first ever full 26 miles of marathon!! And the matching tat to show off!
It still does not seem real at times, I have to take a second look in the mirror to realize that yes, that IS me...

I'd like to share about one guy who was here on the Men's Forum. This was about 6 years ago and I don't know if I have all the information. If you are still on this forum, let us know...I don't want to put words in your mouth.
Anyways, This brother was very large. He also had major medical issues. He had to ride around Walmart in a cart...You get the idea. He had WLS and started the move downward on the scale. For the first few months his major accomplishment was to walk to the mailbox and back...A BIG BIG step. He was able to move more and more. He put his eyes on the prize. See there was this lake (not really a lake...more like a pond). It was about 1/4 mile around...Not much for many of us, but for someone with health and leg issues a big prize. He worked and worked and finally made it around that lake!! It was his gold metal...Not mine, or yours, but his alone. Many times we look at what certain people have done and compare. Doing great feats is good...striving to be great is a noble achievement. But my prize is not yours...Yours is not mine. Brian

I remember you guys when I started OH back in 2011. I' m still on OH,but now on my way to VSG surgery on Feb 5, 2014. I waited about two years for this surgery, just because so many other things were happening with my health. I have posted messages to some of the guys I knew, but they are no longer around, just as you said. I would like to be added as a friend to both of you. We all need a support group, for help after surgery.
As you would say, I have had a few fart situation in the past years.
Thanks, stay in touch.
