Bullying or just getting shellacked?

In a nut shell score was 91-0 and a parent from losing team filed a bullying report on winning team.  I'm calling "bull****" and the "touchy, feely, here is your trophy and ribbon for showing up" approach to kids sports as gone too far!  I can see the touchy feely approach before 8,9,10 years old but by middle school the lessons learned from losing should be in play.

Read and discuss.

I am with you Don, What are we teaching our kids otherwise? Life is always fair? It's not and the sooner they learn the truth, the sooner they can get over the entitlement mentality.   Boy I sound like a cranky old man.

I know in 6-man football, yes it is still played here, they have the "45 point" rule.  If one team is up by 45 points at the Half then game over.  If it goes beyond halftime as soon as there is a 45 point spread it is over.

If my kid was on a football team that lost games 91-0, I would encourage him to consider joining another team.  If he was as bad as the team, I would encourage him to find another sport he didn't suck at.  I would not bellyache about the other team being better than my kid's.  If you are not honest about your boy's abilities with him, he will never become a man.  Men do not cry when they lose in a fair game, even if it is by a large margin.

Thanks man!  This topic to me is like red meat to a hungry dog.  You gave me a chance to rant.  Stories like that really **** me off for some reason.  The so-called "bullying" laws were not meant to be used that way.  The principal should immediately dismiss the complaint as nonsense and issue a reprimand to the foolish parent who brought it.

Since when do you have to apologize for success? At any time, the team that was having the tar beat out of them could have surrendered the game, ending it by forfeit.  They could have just admitted they were beaten and gone home.  They didn't need to keep going, unless they found some value in it.

The epilog is that the complaint was dismissed as being, using the non legal term, BS the next day.  Even the coach from the losing team called it such recognizing that they just got their ass kicked and time to move on to the next game.

The value in going the distance was in the not quitting aspect.  Like Randall "Tex" Cobb's fight with Larry Holmes in '82.  Got pounded on for 15 rounds but not knocked out.  In that instance though it got Howard Cosell to quit calling boxing matches!

I was at a little league game where the rules said that the kids could not strike out. So, they just got to keep swinging until they put a ball in play. Are you kidding me? One kid must have taken fifty swings. Finally a kid in the field yelled "Hey, maybe you're a lefty." He's probably lucky he didn't get banned for bullying.
