Hard work, clean living and a big ol' nasty stinky this morning that King Kong would be proud of and I'm back down to 170!

Will be interesting to read Mike's post, if he does one, on the OH convention in CA.  Have been to the ones in Atlanta and Houston and know they can be informative and entertaining.

Hope your team does well today.  Much as I pull for the Cowboys looks like Peyton Manning et al  will be 5-0 after today.  LSU beat up on Mississippi State last night.  Nerts.

Keep working your programs!

Up a wee bit this week. My plan to lose 20 went on hold lol. Travelled to OK and KC this week for work. I find it very hard to keep to my plans for exercise or diet. Though I didn't go too far off the mark. I did keep up some exercise, but proved that there are a few things I should not do if I want to lose. All is well. Back home for two weeks so expect to see some movement as I get back into my routine.

Good luck everyone and have a good week!

The Numbers:
346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
198: Weigh In 9/29/13
199: This Week 10/6/13 -->1 lb gain BMI=30

140:Total Weight Loss

Slight uptick, but happy to still be in Onderland!  Overall, not a bad week in terms of eating, vitamins, and exercise.

One poor choice however. Yesterday had a lot of running around to do. I did not eat anything for close to 6 hours. Next thing I know leaving the movies with my family and I almost fainted. Not good. Luckily my wife had bee grocery shopping so had a bannana and started feeling better. Lesson Learned...

Have a good week!

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac

Greetings Men from sunny southern California!  We’re here in Anaheim for the OH 2013 conference.  Excellent conference and even better than last year’s in Atlanta.  Informative workshops and lot of fun even if you’re like me - a people watcher and not much of a partier.  Dr. Sharma was the keynote speaker and led a workshop.  He is a MD & PhD who runs the Obesity research center at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.  He is an awesome resource.  Check out his website at:

@Don, it’s always reassuring that when we work the program we can make progress!

@Crispy, they have some excellent BBQ in OKC & KC.  Problem is the portion sizes!

@Bill Mac, yep too long!  We all need to have a plan to eat something every 4 hours.  I always keep some single wrap “Ones” prunes in my glovebox in case I get caught out too long without eating.

    My stats this week:

           High weight:  392 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09:  377.5 lbs
      1st Surgiversary:  241.0 lbs
      2nd Surgiversary:  212.5 lbs
      3rd Surgiversary:  217.0 lbs
      4th Surgiversary:  214.0 lbs
Last week:  219.2 lbs / 20.5% body fat / 165.8 lbs muscle mass
This week:  218.5 lbs / ? body fat / ? lbs muscle mass

I weighed this morning in the hotel fitness center.  So, I don’t’ have my body fat and muscle mass numbers.  According to their scale, I’m back down 0.7 lbs overall this week.  I made it to the gym on 4 days (2 days cardio & 2 days Physioslow strength) last week and did pretty well mindfully eating during the week – even here in Anaheim!

What a heartbreak – my Vols lost (34-31) to the Dawgs yesterday in OT.  Georgia’s injuries gave us a chance but TN couldn’t keep them out of the endzone with 5 sec left in regular play.  The Falcons (1-3) play the Jets (2-2) tonight.  Atlanta lost to New England last week by a TD.  The Falcon’s record doesn’t reflect how close their three loses were against tough teams.  Should be a good game tonight.

Be safe & have a great week gentlemen!

Thanks mike, you are so right. I posted on another thread about what I experienced in OK. Went looking for salad and ended up at "dans", an All you can eat steak bar. I actually did ok but come on, all you can eat ny strip, pork chops and salad. They were pretty confused I couldn't eat what I took and gave me a doggie bag lol.
I think you are so right about portion sizes. Also interested in things you heard about this from the conference. I truly believe that each of us has to customize their plan at some point to get to goal, whi*****ludes portions which are right for us. One size does not fit all. It's all good though!

My numbers stayed the same this week. Things may be slowing down for me, but they don't feel like it I'm sore all over. I usually walk 5 miles a day been trying to jog 3 of those and I've added a basic kettlebell routine on the 2 days I don’t do cardio. I’ll worry if I go up or stay the same next week… Everybody have a great week. Don your cowboys almost pulled it off crazy good game almost as good as the Georgia Tennessee game.

And dang it I missed it!  My wife came in from work and since it was my night to "cook" we went to local Mexican food place that did not have game on TV.  Brother text me giving me an update about time we were getting through.  I did manage to hear the very end of it on the radio on the way home.

193 this morning, same as the week before, etc!!  Seems to be my new normal with the current running schedule.

Bit of a heart break on Saturday's run in that I ONLY went 18.4 miles.... my goal was 23!  3 weeks out from the marathon, and wanted one last big run but the IT band on my left knee disagreed with this notion.

Basically it got tight early, I kept massaging it and stretching during the run but after an extended water break at mile 17, I could not get into a running rythem again that would work (and not hurt like the dickens) so I walked another 1.5 miles to see if it would loosen up.

If it had been race day I would have kept going, but no real reason to pu**** harder and now I am glad I stopped.  It has been SORE as heck since then, hoping I just am sore and not injured at this point.

Weight was 188 when I got home.. I lose 6-8 pounds usually on my long runs and then hydrate like madman afterwards...
