Travel went ok this week but even though I exercised and ate below my Daily required calories I saw a slight bump up. I expect to see the weight correct this week. Will follow the plan regardless. I have my 2-1/2 year follow up with my surgeon Tuesday and feeling good. I should hit my first goal of being at my lowest post surgery weight.

Looking for input from you guys on goal setting Body Fat vs. Weight. I'll post a separate thread. Good luck all!

Status quo for the week.  Happy as I am in maintenance and any week without gaining is GOOD!!! Overall, did good on eating, vitamins and exercise.

Happy 4th of July to all!

355 8/1/11, and 321 on 9/21/11, RNY Surgery Day.

I have been running between 190-205 since about July 2012.

194.x this morning!

Started training this weekend for a BIG NEW goal!!  I have run a 10k on my workouts here locally and was considering a half marathon (21.1K) but I honestly think I could just about do one of those pretty quickly based on my current abilities.

So, setting new goals and working toward them, there is a FULL marathon race in late October that I have signed up for!!  Hoping to connect with some of the other long distance runners to help me set intermediate training goals, when to taper off, etc.

Ran 5.5 miles on Saturday and then 3.2 (5k) yesterday so my legs were pretty tight.  Will run again tomorrow is my plan.

See you all l8r!

@Don, thanks for kicking it off this week in Brain’s absence.  Definitely, continuing to keep him & family in thoughts & prayers.

@Crispy, according to the tables a healthy body fat for men age 18-39 is 8%-20%; age 40-59 is 11%-22%; and age 60-99 is 13%-25%.

@Bill Mac, status quo is the goal in maintenance!

@Sam, you da’ man!  I can’t seem to break the 5 mile barrier.

    My stats this week:

           High weight:  392 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09:  377.5 lbs
Last week:  212.8 lbs / 20.0% body fat / 162.0 lbs muscle mass
This week:  217.2 lbs / 19.5% body fat / 166.2 lbs muscle mass

This week I’m up 4.4 lbs overall and up 4.2 lbs muscle mass.  Visiting family in Tennessee, I didn’t have access to a gym but I was able to fast-walk/jog (avg 4.5 mph) 5K on each of 5 days.  Boy, the muscles ached.  It’s amazing the different muscles that are utilized on the gym treadmill and elliptical versus the road.  I resisted the familial smorgasbord and was able to keep the calories in check.

Have a happy & safe 4th!

Mike, here is something I am just trying out, so I cannot say for certain yet how well it will work, but might get you past the 5k?

http://www.jeffgalloway.com/

Run-Walk-Run method, basically you build in walk breaks from the very beginning, to allow your legs rest and therefore go longer distances, with less injuries.

I did my first RWR this morning, 2 minutes run, 1 minute walk and my legs feel great and I finished 3.36 miles (39:23) at a pace of 11:42 minute miles.

Might be worth a shot, see if you can get to 4-5 miles with this method?

Just to compare, I was tired on Sunday and ran an identical distance, 3.36 miles, 41:59, which is a 12:29 per mile pace!  So by adding the rest / walk breaks I ended up going faster!?

Thanks Sam!  The RWR method makes sense.  The best 5K time I've had was last February.  Not even knowing about the RWR method, I pushed myself by walking 1 min / running 1 min / walking 1 min - in essence employing the method.  Being cooler and having a lot of runner/spectator motivation added to my performance too.

Not sure about Jeff Galloway's recommendation about not stretching though.  The older I get I find I need stretch just to get out of bed in the morning!

Hi Fellas!

Definitely way busy with the family commitments this week. Had burial yesterday so we are on our way back to some kind of normalcy. Thank you Don for picking up in my absence, will be back Sunday as per usual.
